property in Tanz - 19 years ago

yes you can buy on a lease hold, it is a mission. You need to register a company and hold an A class work permit - the company can own the property and rent it to you at a nominal rental - the tax law is changing so the valuations may as well. There are a few expats that have done this here - al depends where and when ...

maternal health care in Tanzania - 19 years ago

I too am an American looking to move to Dar and would like to know the following: 1) if working for a US NGO (full benefits) how much will we spend monthly? 2) How hard is it for a spouse to find a job? 3) What is the maternal health care like, should we become pregnant while overseas? I appreciate any feedback. ...

"expat housing and homes + rents" - 19 years ago

rents are coming down - you can spend anything from 1000US to 4500US. The mid range of about 2000 - 2500 will get you a good house. or a fairly good furnished 3/4 bedroom apartment fully furnished. The trick is water and power. you need live in an aerea where there is a constant water supply, or you end up forking out 40US per week for a truck with 10000l. the power here is getting better but you...

Work in South Africa - 22 years ago

I am extremely interested in taking a wildlife managment course and to do a practicum in SA. I have checked the internet for job placements for field guides and rangers and there seems to be very very few openings. I am from Canada and I am also wondering about work restrictions or even if this is a viable field to get into. Can anybody with experience tell me if I am wasting my time? Any help wo...

Living in Morocco - 19 years ago

I think if your daughter wants to study in Morocco for a semester, she will enjoy every minute and the Moroccan hospitality will welcome her with open arms. I am an American woman who has visited Rabat and has experienced the kindness of the Moroccan people firsthand. Rabat is an exotic, yet very cosmopolitan capital city. Currently, my fiance is studying at the Universite Mohamed V in Rabat. The...

I'm from the UK. Situation: I'm involved with someone from Mauritius. They may be unable to leave the island in the near future so I have thought about going there. But how long would I actually be allowed to stay? I assume i'd be able to rent somewhere if I came for a few months? Is it possible to get a part-time job? I realise its probably impossible What other option do I have? Thanks for ...

Flexibility - 19 years ago

Pick up some travel books on Kenya, learn a little Swahili, and be flexible with your diet. Most of the world doesn't have the "luxury" of chosing not to eat meat. Expect animal bi-products (milk, yogurt, eggs) to supplement your diet. You could probably do the vegan thing but just be open to trying new things. ...
