Day 01: Nairobi to Masai Mara
Pick from Nairobi Hotel and depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve via the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley, lunch en-route. Arrive in time for an evening game drive in this pristine, unequalled 'big game country'. Return to the Mara campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 02: Masai Mara
This will be a day of tracking game with your guide, after an early breakfast. The Mara's landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle and Thompson’s gazelle among others. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. In the evening, return to the campsite for dinner overnight.

Day 03: Masai Mara - Lake /Nakuru
Have a pre-breakfast game drive, after breakfast, leave Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru. Lunch enroute. Arrive in Nakuru in the evening. Proceed to your budget hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha
After breakfast proceed for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake's salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou stork; white rhino may be seen as well as the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, cape buffalo and other plains game in this park that is 188 square kilometres. After lunch proceed to Lake Naivasha. The nearby Lake Naivasha, the highest lake in the Rift Valley, is famous for being used as a staging post in the 1930’s for The Imperial Airways Flying Boat Services from Durban to London.
Dinner and overnight is at the Campsite/budget hotel.

Day 05: Lake Naivasha /Nairobi/Arusha
After breakfast, proceed to the Hell's gate National park where you will have a chance to have a walking safari. Proceed to Nairobi in time for lunch and an afternoon shuttle to Arusha via the Namanga border point for immigration formalities. Arrival Arusha at around 1900hrs and you will met met by our Tanzania representative and checked in a budget hotel for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 06: Arusha/Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel then depart for Lake Manyara National Park. The park is renowned for it’s bird life, which includes flamingo and Egyptian geese as well as its tree-climbing lions. The park is small in size and the time you spend there will be sufficient to cover the park exhaustively. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 07: Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti
Breakfast at 0700am. Thereafter drive to the Great Serengeti National Park (14,763 sq km or 5,700 sq mile’s) with your Picnic Lunch Packed and game drives en route via Ngorongoro Crater rim. Serengeti National Park is a home to lion, leopard, Elephant, Cheetah, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Wild dog, Gazelles, Crocs and more. Lot of birds includes the Eurasia migrants. The cats and the wildebeest herds however are the main attraction with the next two months regarded as the finest times to witness cheetah hunts anywhere in Africa. The lion prides here are equally impressive. Found virtually everywhere, prides often number over twenty individuals and are ruled by some of the most impressive males to be seen anywhere. Dinner and Overnight at the campsite

Day 08: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, continues with both morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti national Park. Remember this is the migration safari, so as Serengeti is very large as your game drives will depend on the move of the migrants, your guide knows very well how to locate the herds. The Serengeti National Park is famous for the 'Great Migration', over one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand plus zebras each year follow the rains. In October and November they travel from the mountains of the north, southwards to the plains seeking lush pastures. After the great rainy season in April, May, and June the herds then make their return ward journey. Even without this mass migration, the Serengeti is still an exciting and spectacular place that still cannot fail to enthral. Dinner and Overnight at the campsite

Day 09: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, depart the Serengeti National part to Ngorongoro conservation area via the pre-historic site at Olduvai Gorge. The gorge museum has great wealth of the remains of various fauna and flora from the early man era. Continue to the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive, lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at lodge/campsite.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro for a full day crater tour, taking picnic lunches with you. This visit will actually give you the highest chances of spotting the rare black rhino. The crater is 670 metres deep. The rest of the big five may be seen. Other species encountered include cheetah, grant’s and thompson’s gazelle, the common zebra, spotted hyena and wildebeest. Flamingos may also be seen on the crater lake. In between tracking game, you will have a break for lunch at the Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. In the evening ascend up and out of the crater to spend the night at the lodge or campsite.

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

Thanks for visiting, happy travels and don't forget to send us your reviews...

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
