Day 01: Nairobi-Arusha
Depart Nairobi by shuttle bus at 8am either in Nairobi airport or hotel in Nairobi then drive through Namanga border /Arusha Arriving at Arusha by lunch time 12.30-13.00hrs. Overnight at Arusha Centre Inn on bed and breakfast.
Day 02: Arusha-1st Cave Camp
The climb begins at the village of Nale Moru (1950m) through cultivated land before entering the pine forest. Watch out for Kilimanjaro Colobus monkeys in the tree tops with their white fringed 'capes' and tail. Taking 3 - 4 hours the first camp is on the edge of the moor land zone where the forest begins to thin out at First Cave at 8500ft/2600m. Overnight 1st Cave Camp
Day 03: 1st Cave Camp-3rd Cave Camp
The morning walk is a steady ascend up to Second Cave at 11300ft/3450m with superb views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Pushing on to reach Third Cave taking 3 to 4 hours at 12800ft/3800m for overnight camp. Overnight 3rd Cave Camp
Day 04: 3rd Cave Camp-Kibo Camp
Continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4 to 5 hours to reach Kibo Hut at 15000ft/4700m. The reminder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent which begins around midnight. Overnight Kibo Camp.
Day 05: Kibo-Summit-Horombo Hut
An early start for the summit on steep heavy scree to arrive at Gilman's Point at 18640ft/5681m in time to see the sun rise. Those who want to reach the highest point in Africa can take the approximately three hour excursion to Uhuru Peak 19340/5896m passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area. The descent to Kibo is surprisingly fast and after some refreshment, continues the descent to reach the final campsite at Horombo at 12000ft/3700m taking 11 to 15 hours. Overnight Horombo Camp.
Day 06: Horombo Hut-Mandara-Arusha
A steady descent down through the moor land to Mandara Hut and then downward through the lush forest on a good path to the National Park gate at Marangu ( 1830m) taking 5 to 7 hours to be met and transferred to your Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 07: Arusha-Lake Manyara
Leave at app 09:00hrs and proceed to Lake Manyara for lunch and an evening game drive. The main attractions here are the tree-climbing lions. The park is small in size but the terrain is diverse. The vegetation comprises of groundwater forest, open grassland, swamp and acacia woodland with giant mahogany and fig trees. The park is home to a wide variety of mammals and birds. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 08: Lake Manyara-Olduvai Gorge-Serengeti
08:00 Depart for Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge. Arrive for lunch in Serengeti. 15:00 late afternoon game drive in Serengeti Park. The term ‘Serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’ in Maa language. In the central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene off the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, which occurs between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara. Eagles, flamingo, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, heron, kite, pelican, crane and guinea fowl are among the birds that can be seen in the park. Dinner and overnight at campsite
Day 09: Serengeti-Ngorongoro Crater
06:30hrs pre-breakfast morning game drive in Serengeti. 10:00 Depart after breakfast for Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon drive to the Ngorongoro Crater floor and descend down its walls for a 1/2 day crater tour with a picnic lunch. It is a thrilling experience to descend down and out of the narrow and steep crater walls of 670 metres depth, which has earned this crater, also the largest in the world the title ‘’the eight wonder in the world’’. Flamingos can be seen seasonally in the Crater Lake, depending on the water level as these birds only breed in shallow water. Many animals, which have made this crater their permanent home, can be seen on the crater floor. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater-Tarangire National Park
08:00hrs depart for Tarangire National Park after breakfast and en-route scenic views. Arrive for lunch at the campsite. 15:00hrs early evening game drive in Tarangire Park. The park has an atmosphere of remoteness and has fewer visitors than all the other parks in Tanzania’s entire northern circuit. Blue monkeys, hornbills, pelicans, herons can be seen as well as elephants in large herds, cheetah, jackal, fish eagle, marabou stork and hippos. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 11: Tarangire-Arusha
06:30 early morning game drive in Tarangire. 10:00-1100hrs, drive back to Arusha. Lunch at Arusha Centre Inn
