Hi student from Latvia, Well with your budget of Kshs 16,000 to get furnished room in the upmarket i.e. westlands, kilimani and gigiri is very minimal. Shared accomodation goes for average not less than 25,000 if you are lucky. The best deal is to get unfurnished servant quarter then furnish it with a bed and other few stuff. I have two bathrooms but sometimes both of them are in use by the households (that is me ,hubby ,son). Let me give you an example i.e. to buy a plot at (donholm area) Eastlands (security is average) app 1 million kshs to build it will take another 2 million . so the total is about 2.5 - 3 million kshs. the rent will be about 25,000 - 28,000 kshs .
