I'm a student from germany and I'll make an internship at the UN this autumn. Now I'm preparing my stay and have a few questions about the accomodation... Is the UN situated in a safe area of the city? Is there any website for accomodations, or how could I get information about accomodations in Nairobi? I would be happy about any information!

wenn sie nicht dabei findest oder fuer irgend ein Grund nicht klar kommen dann koennen sie mir noch schreiben. Ich kenne andere plaetze wo man preiswert und sicher wohnen kann es konnte teur sein aber sie mussen mit ungefaehr 400-500 Euro rechnen besonderes wenn sie eine mobilierte Wohnung suchst. wenn es zu teur ist kann ich freunde von mir fragen ob sie als untermieter aufnehmen koennen.

Vielen dank, werde mir die Seiten mal ansehen. Am besten fände ich so etwas, wie ein Zimmer in einer Wohngemeinschaft oder in einem Studentenwohnheim oder so ähnlich. Ich freue mich, dass Sie so hilfsbereit sind.

Probiest du dann die YMCA&YWCA. Die sind ziemlich zentral. In kenya gibt es auch WGs aber nicht wie mann heir kennt.Vielleicht kannst du noch fur 'Hostels' suchen, die sind WG maßig ob du damit zufrieden wird habe ich keine Ahnung.Es gibt auch einige apartments fur 300€ ich denke die heissen Eagle apartments die solltest du in google nach schauen. Ich war nicht da, aber es gibt Studenten die dort gewohnt habe und waren ziemlich zufrieden
Wenn du nicht sicher bist dann lieber suchst du auf dem Noticeboard des Sarit Center. Sie sind leider nicht im Internet zu sehen aber in Nairobi wirst du schon finden. Haupsache bei deiner suche solltest du auf erstens die lage, zweitens die lage und immmer die Lage achten. Dies entscheidet meist deine Sicherheit.denken sie nicht so viel an sehr billig sache,sondern preis-leistung Verhältnis. Also eine Verbindung zur UNEP,Wasser, Strom, gibt es ein Wachman,mit wem du in einer Block wohnst und solches.Vielleicht wirst du auch bei der UNEP noch studenten finden die keine feste Wohnung habe und deshalb wäre es besser wenn du in Nairobi bist und konnt Ihr eine gemeinsames Wohnung mieten.(dass habe ich auch gemacht)Ich wurde auch dir raten ein Vetrag abzuschliesen wenn du erst deine Wohnung gesehen hast und bei die locals in UNEP nachgefragt hast wie die die Lage schätzen.Diese Taktik kann dir von viele Uberaschungen sparen.

Ich komme nicht aus Nairobi , aber aus Kenia. Ich habe meine erste Studium in Nairobi gemacht deshalb kenne ich Nairobi ganz gut.
Schweirig wird es sein an die erste Tage wenn du da bist aber ich hoffe, bass ich dir in Verbindung mit freunde von mir setzen und kann dir bei einige Sache helfen. Leider bin ich zur Zeit in DL aber werde ich irgendwan am ende des Jahres nach Nairobi fliegen vielleicht sehen wir uns dort.

however i understand some little german, The YMCA is better and more confortable , a place you would like to stay and relax.
they have both rooms payable every day and others that you can pay on monthly basis - the ;later being much cheaper , you may need to make bookings early.

In response to your query about accommodation, yes you can get a sharing facility with that amount. However it may not necessarily be close to the USIU. Transport is not a problem though and I believe the university also has transport arrangements for staff and students.

You might want to consider 'homestay'. I live in a secure area. You can have a comfortably furnished room, meals and laundry for USD 25 per day. The house is on Ngong Road near Uchumi Hyper and Nakumatt Prestige. It is 3kms from Kenyatta National Hospital and takes about 10mins by matatu or bus.

I have been in Kenya from Germany putting up a great youth hostels just a kilometer from the city center.From this hostels you can walk to any point of Nairobi and avoid traffic stress.we are however, charging halfboard about 12euros per day.
