Nighttrain to Mombasa

Hi,

Me and a friend are going to Kenya in three weeks and we would like to take the nighttrain from Nairobi to Mombasa. Does anyone know where we can book these tickets in advance? Like on a website or a phone number. I hope someone can help us!

There is nowhere you can book the train by phone or on a website.

You only book personally in advance i.e. 12 hours before departure.

The train leaves at 7.00pm for Mombasa.

Currently there is no advance booking by phone or website.

Email me incase you need more info or help.

Nope. Train only leaves M, W and F Nairobi Mombasa. Website is http://www.eastafricashuttles.com/train.htm

We're actually going to be on that trip Friday night, 11/26!

I'm thinking of getting the train back to Nairobi from mombasa. I'll be catching a flight the same day. Does anyone know how reliable the train is and if its likely to run REALLY late?
Also what about a coach service from Mombasa to Nairobi? I saw one on the above website. Anybody have experience of its reliability?

Hi,

It just depends on how many time you have left between the arrival and the flight. We arrived about an hour to late but i've heard from two other people that they arrived almost 4 hours to late.

Anyway, the night train Mombasa-Nairobi is the best regular train in entire Africa. Well maintained, safe sleeping compartments, three-course dinner and English breakfast. Higly recommended. The buses also run in the night and look horrible. Roads aren't to good in East Africa either.

Hope someone can help me with this question. I´ve read in ´Lonely Planet´that when you travel by train you´ll be devided by gender? It would be a problem because I´m travelling with my girlfriend <img src="[www.africaguide.com]]
