visa problems

Hi, could anybody help me?
I am a Chinese girl and now studying in Germany.
I had a dream to go Egypt from early time. So for this Christmas I planned to spend my time in Egypt.I bought the fights and prepared things for travelling. But just days before, one of my Chinese friend told me that I might have trouble going Egypt because I didn't apply for the VISA.
Oh, my godness. All the information I got before was that I didn't need to apply VISA and I could buy the visa when landing, by the way, I will land in Luxor airport.
So what can I do now?
Can anybody give me a hand?

If I just go to Egypt without applying the Visa, what is the worst treatment?can I have some alternatives like to go another country after Egypt so that I can apply Transit VISA?

I really need your help and suggestion? Please reply to me as soon as possible. I will be really appreciated!

I'm a Chinese now working in the UK. I've also bought a holiday to Egypt but applying for a visa took a shockingly long 6 - 8 weeks here for any Chinese passport holder!! Did you finally sort out your visa problem? I just got to know that my travel insurance does not cover that either! What a nightmare!
