EGYPT..............

Hi THERE
Can anyone please help me with any advice on moving to Egypt.I am at present in the process of selling my house in the uk so I can buy a 1/2 bed apartment in Egypt(cash) and live out there.
I have been looking at Sharm...so if anyone can offer any advice from sharm i would be extremely grateful....But i would also consider other parts of Egypt.
Could anyone give any idea of prices of a 1/2 bed apart in L.E (SO I CAN COVERT TO STERLING).
Also the cost of living in Sharm or elsewhere....
food,electricity,water,phone,internet etc...
All advice would be most welcome

1/2 bed appartment varies drastically from one zone to the other. it depends what you are looking for exactly. it could be in a poor neighbourhood starting at 2000 PS, and goes up from there.

as for utilities its really cheap in egypt, the same tariff is everywhere.

electricity is around 0.016 PS/KW
water is around 0.018 PS/cu.m.
phone : Land line is so cheap, cell is 0.027PS/minute
internet is 14PS/month for an ADSL 256kb

I would advice you not to sell your house in UK just yet,if it was me,i would rent it out and use that rent to live a good life anywhere in egypt,i speak out of personal experience,i travel a lot to cairo and we stay free in a family flat,if you want to you can join us and find out for your self before making any commitment,pls email me if you are intrested.cheers!

it is not easy to find in sharm a flat, it is so expensive there .
but you can find in cairo easly

When you say 14ps/month for ADSL,Do you mean,L.E or UK£??

Dont sell your house. First go to Sharm, have flat rented out, then stay for 3 months or so, don't say to anyone that you are planing out to shift.

Sharm is safe but relatively very expensive.

If you are planing to have a local job then its not easy as huge inflow of tourist and part timers.

You don't just need to see price of internet, as you can not live with, you have to carefully see the price difference of daily usage items too, to judge your monthly expenditure. Most things, even chicken is imported in Egypt, so no doubt expensive. Mobile extreamly expensive compare to other countries as there are only 2 companies in field and 1 new just entered. Except gas you will find every thing over priced.
