From Greece to Egypt

I will travel in Greece in December then I will go to Egypt.I want to know if there any ferry from Pireas or Rodos/Greece to Sait/Egypt?

Hi Bert, no I cannot find any ferry from Greece either to Egypt, Cyprus (from there flights to Egypt are cheap) or Israel now. I've contacted many companies & they just aren't running those routes at this time. Maybe with the crowds on hand for the Olympics they might but I haven't gotten any hopeful info on that either, it's just wishing I suspect. I think there is a ferry from Italy to Tunisia that still operates but I'm not sure if the train tracks go all the way to Egypt.

i am actualy in egypt and i was trying to plan my way back to switzerland by train and ferries i went to several companies in greece an all they have is greece italy or really expencive cruise boats i know there is some ship who does this route i spoke to several people in alexandria and port said but it seems there is no official infos about that...

I still have not had any luck finding a ferry fr Egypt to Greece or Italy. I gave up and bought plane tickets from Athens to Cairo for $367 return fare. The ferry would probably have cost half that and taken 24 to 36 hours so for us it was worth it as we only have 2 months for our trip plus the ferry just isn't an option now anyway. I mentioned the ferry fr Tunisia to Italy, if airfare to Tunis fr Cairo was cheap enuf that might make it a safer route and still cheap. It is definitely possible to take buses, ferry, train through Damascus then on to Turkey. If you decide to fly, check out flights from Tel Aviv, they were the cheapest way to get back to Europe flying with Cairo next cheapest and Amman most expensive. I know sometimes there are fantastic specials to London from Cairo but we couldn't take that chance. But if you aren't on a strict timeframe then you can check out the websites for last minute or standby fares. Lotsa luck!!! Any hints for Egypt? ?just wanted to let you know that there ýs no fery servýce by any greek lýne that goes to egypt at thýs týme. all have been suspended untýl further notýce because of the problems ýn the mýddle east. ýnýtýally these lýnes stoped over ýn egypt merely as a lay-over and theýr end port was ýn ýsrael. no one knows when they wýll be runnýng agaýn. asýde from aýrlýne servýces the only other way to make ýt to egypt ýs výa the overland route--thru northern greece (thessalonýk? to ýstanbul thru turkey to syrýa--etc. unfortunately thýs route takes you rýght thru ýsrael and palestýne but ?know a few people that are goýng to attempt ýt ýn the comýng weeks.

you also can find cheap plane tickets in Travelocity.As I remember, Turkish Air ticket is also cheap too but it may spend more time at the transportation.You can try it.

maalesh as they say here for the ferries i ll have to take the plane too or maybe the land route but i will contourne israel by jordan an then libanon and syria so god will...
for the horse rides you are attempting too it depends witch place you are to visit but there are plenty of stables but i m in sharm now i will try to find out some more about that and answer you as soon as possible meshi?

thanks but don't worry about looking up any stables, we can do that. I just wondered if you happened to know of any <img src="[www.africaguide.com]]. We'll be heading to Sharm too, have a friend there to visit <img src="[www.africaguide.com]]. If you do end up flying you might look into which airlines allow standby and let that guide you to which place to fly from. Good luck <img src="[www.africaguide.com]].

Hi Patrice, it just dawned on me that you said you might travel to Israel then onto Syria. You will need to have them not stamp your passport in Israel or I think you will not be allowed into Syria. Jordan is no problem. I think they will stamp a separate piece of paper if you ask so that your passport doens't show Israel. Good luck, Chickenmama <img src="[www.africaguide.com]]

Hi, I have been looking for ways to drive from south england to Sinai. Nobody can confirm any ferries apart from Genova to Tunis. Does anybody know if there is a ferry round to Port Saed from Tunis (to avoid Libya). Pls, i want to leave in 3 weks time! I dont want to fly again.

Tunis: There are no overland connections from Tunis to Egypt and definitely no railway in Libya, neither are there any ferries along the coast from Tunis to Egypt as far as I know.
Ferries from Europe: In July 2001 I saw a passenger ship/ferry in Bur Said. It was bound for either Greece or Cyprus. Unfortunately I never asked and haven´t been able to obtain information about it after I came home.
Through Asia Minor: You definitely don´t have to go through neither Israel nor Palestine to go from Europe via Syria to Egypt. There are weekly night trains Istanbul-Halab (supposed to have a through car to Dimashq (Damascus) but normally hasn´t), daily day and night trains Halab-Dimashq, day trains every Monday and Thursday Dimashq - Daraa - Amman, supposed to be buses in Jordan from Amman to Aquaba and ferry across to the Aquaba Bay to Egypt.

I will be going though europe in august before i head into athens from rome and then into Syria. I go to college in Damascus and i believe there to be a ferry from Lattakia and also one or two in Lebanon with very reasonable fares to Alexandria, i just recently found them myself and will be using them in November. My tickets to Damascus from Athens were a mere $250 and the ferry around a $100, which is far cheaper then any flight you'll find from greece into egypt.
