I finally have an exciting opportunity to visit Namibia & Botswana this summer (6 weeks, June-July), and have been doing a moderate amount of reading. Our trip will be completely self-driven.
One concern I have is that my guidebook specifically mentions that the national parks such as Chobe should be booked 11-12 months in advance, and therefore don't expect to drive up and try to find a site.
As we hope to stay at Chobe near the end of our journey, it's not clear when we'd arrive, and so it would seem that reservations could be difficult to stick to.
How full are these sites at that time of year (eg. last week of July)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
