Safaris / Tours in Africa

Hi everyone, im wanting to go to africa this september. Im looking for ideas on resonably priced camping treks, either walking, canoeing, horse or camel back. I then would like to do some volunteering work. Im interested in all areas and prefer more up close travel than the tourist carts. Has anyone done somthing similar that they would recommend?
