Cycle Africa

Just wondering if anyone has ever cycled down through africa. How long would it take? Any advice? Please get in touch if you have any info that would help me. it's just an idea at this stage. not sure how much i could cycle per day and what is realistic. is 6 months too short? Please let me know if you have any ideas. thanks
