My husband( swedish) , our 2 children and I(brasilian) are person who love to travel. We have been travel a lot with our sail boat and know are planning to travel across Africa by car along this route: Marrocos, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia , Guinea Bissau and back to Sweden where we live. We are planning approx 3 months for this trip. This is our first trip across Africa and we have a number of questions re driving. If anyone can offer advice re any/all of the following, this would be much appreciated:
1. We are a bit unsure about passing through Marrocos and Mauritania. Can anyone recommend any alternative route(s)?
2. We have a land rover discovery and are planning to take a tent for accommodation in most areas.
3. What spare parts should we carry with us?
4. How do we stay safe driving across Africa - especially with respect to driving routes, time of travel, moving with others etc?
5. We are keen to hear from people who have made a similar trip.
Thanks - Elizabeth
