Passengers trains in Tanzania are run by TANZANIA RAILWAY CORPORATION and TANZANIA-ZAMBIA RAILWAY.
TANZANIA RAILWAY CORPORATION runs a through train between Dar-es-Salaam and the lakes three times a week. In Tabora the Tanganyika Lake (Kigoma) and Victoria Lake (Mwanza) portion are divided/put together. The train has 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. 1st class is 2 berth sleeping compartments, 2nd class 4 berth compartments and 3rd class seats. No towels are provided. Dining cars with table service, the food being prepared in the car.
TANZANIA-ZAMBIA RAILWAY run the line from New Kapiri Mposhi (2 km from the ZR stop) to Dar-es-Salaam TAZARA (8 km from Dar es Salaam TRC station). There are domestic trains and twice a week (departing Tuesdays and Fridays) through trains; ”Mukuba Express” and ”Kilimanjaro Express”. The trains have 1st, 2nd and 3rd class, with 4 berth compartments, 6 berth compartments and seats respectively. No towels are provided. Dining cars with table service, the food being prepared in the car.

The ”Mukuba Express” and ”Kilimanjaro Express” are the only international trains to/from Tanzania.
