Gday, I am doing a tour that ends in nairobi from where I am planning on making my way to climb kili. What is the best way to travel between these two places? After kili, I am heading to the coast. Is it best go to Tanga or go straight to Dar El?

Climb from Tanzania

Please climb from the Tanzanian (Moshi) side and help tourism in Tanzania. Lots of people in the west think Kilimanjaro is in Kenya, so by you climbing from the Kenyan side, you are ripping off Tanzania bigtime.

Hi Smokey

The "best" way from Nairobi to Arusha/Moshi is to go by aeroplane... but this depends on your budget

It is very easy to get from Nairobi to Arusha/Moshi by the Shuttle bus.

There are a couple running this service

Riverside Shuttle
Impala shutte

you can book when you arrive in Nairobi - generally with the hotel you are staying in. They leave twice daily - early morning and early afternoon.

To Arusha it takes about 6.5 hours.

Hope this helps

If you want a cheaper, more adventurous journey go to nairobi bus station and get on a 'local' bus to moshi. It'll cost about half that of the shuttle bus and is much more fun. Can' remember the exact price but it is in the region of $15US. Watch your bags and pockets in the bus station and remember to have to cash for your visa at Namanga border crossing (if you haven't already got your visa that is.) Hope this is helpful. Dan
