Hi Simon, I have a property listed in this forum, it is in Fes. It is 134 m2, new (never occupied) 2 bdrm./2 bath plus guest toilet with marble floors and tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms. Concierge and security underground parking, excellent location in the "New City" part of town one and a half blocks from the Sheraton Hotel. Health reasons are forcing me to sell for the same price I paid for it, 60,000 euros. If interested please email me. I am living in Spain.

Regards,
Jim

Hi Simon,

I am also looking for exactly the same info as you as I am thinking of possibly buying in or around Essaouira. Most particularly, if anyone knows of an English solicitor practising in Morocco, that would be very helpful indeed. Any other info in respect of property purchasing in Morocco would be much appreciated.

I am very interested in buying either a property, could be in need of renovation or land on the beach in Essaouira. I would like the property to be 5/6 bedrooms, but must be on the beach.

If anyone can help, I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks.

well, first to the lady who married a moroccan man, congratulations, moving to maroc, i dont know where to start, i married a moroccan women 3 yrs back, and have never looked back.
she, her family, her freinds are so very kind to me, and to others.
my wifes mother treats me as another son, what more can i say.
I have now given up my very good job in the uk, to enjoy my life close to Agadir, a small village just outside agadir, tamaraght, we now have a house, that we put a deposit on last yr, and payed for it this yr, we are converting to 3 apartments, everyone needs money to live!
Yes some places i would be careful of, casa, tanger, all big cities around the world have the same problem, so i dont know why the other lady singled out maroc as "not safe haha" london paris you name there are no go area's at night.
yes, be sensible, dress sensible, dont take all your money to the souk, its all common sense.
anyway getting back to the true maroc,,, get away from the cities, get out to the country, find traditional people, like me, make yourself part of the village, respect religions where ever you are.
enjoy the peace, the colours, the spices, the great fresh food, and never look back, i dont never regret selling all and moving. best of luck....

Buying in Morocco

Hi there, Tanger definitely seems a very good place to buy right now in terms of investment as well as for fun. Several of my friends have recently done so. I would definitelt recommend an excellent book by Abby Aron called -not altogether surprisingly- 'Buying a house in Morocco'. Its full of excellent information and important contacts. For fun, you could also read ' Cinnamon City' by Miranda Innes and/or 'The Caliphs House' by Tahir Shah. Both are very informative and amusing and chronicle the buying and doing up of houses by people from England in Marrakech and Casablanca respectively. They are wonderful at tuning you in to the mentality that you will need for your venture. I only wish I'd read them BEFORE I bought and did up my house in Morocco!
Good Luck and enjoy and whatever you do, do not do anything under time or financial pressure!

Hello Simon
there are two ways of buying here in Morocco...either via a friend that can help you and whom you can trust to help you buy what you need or via a sollicitor that speaks English. Most solicitors here speak French and it depends on where you can buy...Sollicitors often rip off and demand many charges....Anyway if in case you like to buy in Agadir( With a lovely beach) or Taroudant which are in the south , i can be of great help to you.In case you like to buy elsewhere , i can advise you to buy via ERAC which is a governmental Estate Agency in Morocco but you need Someone who speaks English to help you with translation and legal documents and so on since most solicitors here speak French. In case you like to reply , use the SEND ME AN EMAIL link under my post.
Take care with the best of luck .
