We have chosen to stay at the Merville Beach Hotel for our honeymoon in 2 Weeks <img src="[www.africaguide.com]]
Does anybody have any info on this hotel and how long does it take to walk to Grand Bay from here. Also, are pound Sterling travellers cheques widely accepted and how much local currency can we bring in. Finally, can anyone recommend any good excursions.

Many Thanks.

Jason

Hi Jason

From the Merville Hotel you will walk 10-15 minutes to the center of grand Baie.
A busstop is also in front of the hotel.
This bus is going to Port Louis or in the other direction to St.Antoine.
Going by bus is cheap and the buses are running always.
D'ont bring lokal money ( MUR ) with you.
It is better to change in M.
You can change at the airport after the arrivel or later in Grand Baie.
Possible cash money, traveller checks, or with the banque automat with sekret number.

I made a private website with informations about excursions, bus, change money, restaurants, where to shop and about a friend, he offers trips by taxi with his prices.
The page is in german, on the 1. you see a bottum for transaltion by goggle.
I f you dont understand the automatic, or if you have more questions , you can mail me direct.

Hello Jason ,

Anne's website will be of great help. Now Concerning Pound sterling . As a mauritian i dont think its a good idea . Try changing it at local Banks or ATMS , rate of exchange are interesting at local banks. 1 GBP rounds up to 48 MUR approximately so change an average of 200 GBP for a start this may help you for shopping , travelling etc.
Bus is cheap , thats true , and bus from grand baie to port louis are plentiful.

There are a lot of tour operators , at the airport , you'll see all these pamplets. at the hotel also you will see . Jason.

Lastely the prices that they charge is a minimum of 30-50 GBP . and they do shopping centres ( where they gain a lot ) +( touristic places )

Me i just advised a friend to hire a car , this one is more economical , you can travel everywhere and cheaper. a small map can help you.

And when you'll travel by yourself you wont feel as if you are stereotyping.

I take leave now

Nice Holidays,
