Living in Lilongwe

I am considering moving to Malawi to work as a journalist. I would like to know, if anyone can help me, how much I might pay for a months rent in a cheap flat share in Lilongwe? Also, how much would a cheap meal cost? I am trying to figure out a budget to keep me alive for a couple of months before I can find my feet...

You can expect to pay about $ 600 for a relativly cheap flat in Lilongwe per month - Utilities [Water and elec] - expect to pay $ 70 extra. - To share a flat is an option, but there are not that many that are available. You really need to be in town looking around. Meals cost anything from $5 from a local restaurant to $ 25 at a nicer establishment.
