Comment: Our trip was just wonderful, the operator was so professional and every aspect of the safari far exceeded our expectations.

We have not stopped talking about our trip, and have already passed on the company's name to our friends, who will be contacting them in the near future to book their own safari. We just never dreamed we would see so many animals, and so close, and Patricks knowledge was amazing.

Thank you again so much we had the best holiday we could ever imagine!!

Comment: Six of us (Self, My wife, Son, Daughter-in -law, two grand sons(11 and8 Years) went on a Safari trip in Kenya, from Sept 4 to October3,2009.
We went to Samburu National park, Mount Kenya, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara and Lake Naivasha.

We had a wonderful Trip for the entire duration. We sighted a Lot of Animals including the Big5.The Flamingos in Lake Nakuru was fantastic. At lake Naivasha the Nature walk was fabulous. Mount Kenya was a lovely stay, though we were not lucky to sight any animals. Samburu was a very good experience as it was our first visit to any safari park in Kenya.
We sighted alot of animals. Masai Mara was the ULTIMATE as we were there for 3 days and had 5 outings including one full day in the Park. It was great as we could see lots of animals, specially the Lions, cheetas, Elephants, Giraffes and Wildebeests. We took lot of Photographs throughout our trip.

Mr Bernard had made Lovely arrangements. From the time we arrived in Nairobi Airport till the time we finished our trip and came back to Nairobi Airport,we were taken care of Fully without any hitch.

We had an excellent Driver and Guide, Rafael, who was outstanding in taking care of us.

We were more than satisfied and got more than our Money's value. On a scale of 10,I would rate our trip in Excess of nine,as there is nothing equivalent to PERFECT10.

Comment: I had the vacation of my life!

I travelled with my son(12), and we both had a fantastic time. The animals were so close(you would want to get out and pet them), and the people were absolutely great!

The accomodation were super: Mara Sopa Lodge" was beautiful, very clean, good food and the staff was so friendly and took good care of us.
"The Flamingo Hill Tented Camp" was also nice, with good food and friendly staff. The walls were tents, so you would listen to the sounds at night. You had everything you needed with your own bathroom and electrisity. The staff followed us to our tents at night and showed us the way.

Our guide took us to all the best places to view the wild animals, and told us patiently their names many times.

We felt so good taken care of in every way, that I would recommend this to everybody!

Comment: Our Tanzania safari package was a private lodge safari for two to Lake Manyara, the Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro Conservation area and caldera.

We had limited time and the tour company was flexible and tailored our package to include these aforementioned sites within a short 4 day/3 night trip. Our package also included a one-way flight from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro and one-way return from Arusha to Nairobi via Impala shuttle.

We were very satisfied with our experience including the lodging, food and service provided by the Serena Lodges, game drives in a 4x4 Landcruiser vehicle, and interaction with our knowledgable and professional driver/guide.

Within a relatively short time frame, we were also able to see many animals, had some time for shopping, visited Olduvai Gorge and museum, as well as visited a Masai village, all with the help and suggestions of our wonderful driver/guide. For example, our guide suggested we saved time by packing lunch rather than returning to the hotels for lunch, which we were glad we did since we wanted to spend more time on game drives. The tour company was also helpful and professional throughout the booking process, replied to e-mails in a timely manner, and we had no problems with the money transfer for payment of the tour.

The only aspect of the safari that we would have changed would be to take a return flight to Nairobi rather than take the shuttle. The shuttle was advertised as taking approx. 3 and 1/2 hours from Arusha to Nairobi. Instead, it took us nearly 8 hours to get to our hotel in Nairobi. This may have been due to current roadwork being done on the route from Arusha to Nairobi, and the shuttle having to slowly traverse bumpy unpaved roads. We wish the tour company could have advised us of how long the shuttle would really take, so that we could have made a different decision about our return transportation to Nairobi.

Overall, we would highly recommend booking a tour with this company as well as staying at the Serena Lodges. On a side note, we found visiting Tanzania in late May to be a wonderful time of year in terms of weather, which was mostly mild and sunny.

Comment: Sorry for delay in responding its been a bit hectic after returning from our wonderful holiday in Kenya, Tanzania & the Seychelles.

Apart from a small hiccup when we arrived in Nairobi ie; no one there to meet us from our flight (that was on time). That was soon sorted by a phone call to a mobile number we had by a very kind chap from a booth in the airport. Our driver Michael had been given the wrong arrival time 2hrs late! he was apologetic and welcomed us to Kenya and Africa (it was a bit worrying at the time as we had parted with a lot of dollars) we can laugh about it now though!!

We found the tour operator & their team & their Tanzania tour partners to be fantastic without exception! from our first e-mails with Bernard the tour consultant to our safari tour guide Fuhanael Kileo to Juileus who took us to & met us at the airport with our safari bags that had been looked after whilst we were away on our holiday in the Seychelles.

It was all just GREAT their whole team looked after us very well the service exceeded our expectations, our safari guide Fuhanael was great company & very knowledgeable who actually made the safari a trip to remember, we would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to safari in Kenya or Tanzania they were very professional and accommodating sorting the whole safari just as we asked fantastic accommodation Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, Mbuzi Mawi Tented camp & Kiruruma Tented Lodge all different but all very good. Score 9.5 out of 10 would have 10 but for the hiccup at the airport.
Asante sana to tour oerator & their team & The Africa Guide for the recommendation.
We are looking forward to another safari once we have saved up!

Comment: Our holiday in both Kenya and Tanzania can only be described as undescribably incredible - no words are sufficient for describing the beauty of the place. Everything was well organised, our guides,

Julius in Kenya and Silva in Tanzania were both outstanding - they had great knowledge and were always full of enthusiasm. The animals, the bird life, the scenery, and the Masai village visit (well worth doing), have all left us with wonderful memories.

Please could you feedback to our guides how wonderful we thought they were.

Comment: Not long back from a 3 week safari to Kenya/Tanzania including 4 relaxing days in Zanzibar, all organised the this tour operator

From the day we arrived in Nairobi where Ben, our guide/driver for the Kenya leg, was waiting for us until 3 weeks later when a driver saw us off at Dar Es Salam Airport, everything went without a hitch.

The accomodation was well above what we expected.

Driver/guides very informative on wildlife, local history , flora and customs. Always on time with a smile.

It is hard to choose highlights from a trip where every day brings something exciting and special, be it a leopard sitting under a tree watching us watch him or a lioness with her cubs walking right beside our 4x4. The following are highlights for me from a trip that I would repeat

Night Game Drive at Sweetwaters Tented Camp – We witnessed a lioness kill a gazelle, 2 lions roaring at each other before sitting down to enjoy the meal. The sight and sounds will stay with me forever.

Hot Air Balloon Flight over the Mara – Well worth the early morning call. Watching the sun rise as you drift across the river, seeing an abundance of wildlife from above. Followed by champagne breakfast out in the bush.

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp – All our accommodation was great but this one we found exceptional.

Imagine sitting out front of your luxury tent or floating in the swimming pool watching a rhino and two giraffe drinking from the waterhole 500 metres away.

The management and staff, including the driver/guides all said they enjoy working here, it certainly shows in the happy atmosphere. Best camping I have ever done.

Ngoongoro Crater- Breathtaking, both for the wildlife and the sunrise.

Tarangire National Park – Beautiful park and the place to go for elephants in great numbers.

I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone thinking of travelling through East Africa

Comment: I am happy to give you some feedback!

I recently had the lucky experience of going on a week long safari and it changed my life! Everything was amazing starting as soon as we were picked up from our wonderful guide Rafael.

It is hard to put into words what one experiences while on safari in Kenya, but I can say that it was the most mind blowing experience I've had to date.

My mother and I were beyond pleased with the services provided us with and were treated so well at all of the lodges and at each stop. We saw the most beautiful landscapes and were face to face with animals one can only dream of seeing in their natural environment. The lodges were all wonderful with very pleasant staff and clean accommodations. The sites were breathtaking and each place had something different than the last.

Overall - this was the best trip we have been on and I highly recommend it to anyone considering it.

Comment: "An African Safari was on my mind since many years, just had to choose between Kenya,Kruger,Tanzania. Kruger was way beyond my budget and so was Tanzania.

Eventually finalised on Kenya. The tour operator made it possible for me. I had a completely off-track personalised itinerary- had my own cook - Easton and my driver - Rafeal.

My Tour Manager, Boaz was extremely patient with my doubts and helped me choose the best places. The Safari van was well maintained and the resorts we chose were 100% comfort.

I opted to use a conbination of a 5 star resort, forest lodges & executive tents inside the sanctuary too ! Easton cooked a lot of variety and served us HOT food everyday and Rafeal never showed a sign of fatigue.

So, we landed at Nairobi on 23rd Oct 08, and set off for Samburu-Mt Kenya-Nakuru- Naivasha-Masai mara. 10 Days of Wild life bonanza and 19 GB of some astonishing animal pictures/sunsets/tribal potraits and mara landscapes...Ofcourse we saw the Big 5 and loads of others too..

Tipping is important in Kenya, also because the Country is not so rich especially porters/Dirvers/your cook etc, and also because these people take care of you and your precious luggage all the time. I felt obliged and gave them tips out of love and not out of any pity...

You must use this tour operator - they are professional and clean in their transactions."

Comment: We have nothing but positive feedback for this safari package and tour operator. Serah, the Head of Sales and Marketing worked closely with us to plan and prepare for our trip. She sent us lists on what to bring with us, tips for travelling in Africa and even provided information on bringing gifts for bartering and giving to the children in the tribal schools.

Upon arrival, we were given a comprehensive briefing before setting off on our adventure. During our flight to Nairobi, I had lost a bottle of our malaria medicine while going through security in London. Serah and our driver/guide, Ben canvassed local chemists and doctors to help us replace the pills that I lost. Anything we needed they were there to help us find.

The package itself was excellent. The accommodations are mostly at Serena Lodges, and they are beautiful places to stay, with more than excellent service. The staff at all of the lodges couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable, the food was good and the settings/views gorgeous. My only semi-negative comment for the package is that for us 16 days may have been a little longer than we needed and the one night stay-over in Nairobi between Massai Mara and Amboseli seemed to serve no purpose in the itinerary. However, since you can never predict where or when you might see the animals most of us go to Africa to see, 16 days could be just right.

And saving the best for last. Ben our driver/guide in Kenya was absolutely the best. He was extremely knowledgeable about the people, the country, the birds, plants and animals. We learned so much spending 11 days with him and in the course of the trip made a new and dear friend. We went to see the animals of Kenya and take some great photographs and ended up with an in-depth education about the culture, the history and the ecology of a pretty amazing country. He is an awesome ambassador for his country and made us feel like part of the family. And, by the way we saw everything we expected to see. Got the "big five" in the first 5 days and Ben was as excited as we were.

So, we would absolutely recommend this package and this operator to anyone traveling to Kenya or Tanzania. We will return, but next time customize our package to see a few new places and to focus on learning more about some places we have already been. And you can bet we will request Ben be our guide.

Comment: We are just back form a safari in Kenya... and I can say that it will not be the last time..!!! It was really an experinece that will last a lifetime...

our guide Francis Wathika was just faboulous... he made sure we saw the best in the time we had... and I must say that the arrangements made by Boaz were great... so much so that he even arranged for me to have a Kenya SIM card (telephone) before I arraived so that I could be in touch with my office and people back in Dubai even before I left for the safari. The hotels that we stayed in were exceptional... the quality of food food was great.. the staff very warm.. all in all a wonderful experience...

I would recommed my friends to visit Kenya and use this Safari Operator for Sure..!!!

Comment: we had an excellent trip...
the guide was very good and competent
the car as well just tyres could have been more recent in mud and dust
carnivore restaurant is finally a tourist trap
we were not informed, in spite of our special request, that 15 kg for 2 persons were the max charge on the Lamu flight so we had to leave 1 luggage at airport (it was still there at our return)

our appreciation is very favorable

Comment: Our safari was wonderful. They did everything they said they would do, plus more.

We were very well taken care of, the camp we stayed at in the Mara was excellent, our driver George was the best, all of our connections to and from airports went smoothly, we loved our stay in Mombasa, and all of the drivers and staff we came in contact with were friendly and helpful.

Yared in the Nairobi office was great, helping us with our planning both before and after we got to Kenya. Boaz was also very helpful and was great in making last minute changes for us.

I would definitely use this company again, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Comment: We had a perfect safari vacation. They arranged all the details based on what we wanted to do and arranged the Tanzania leg with their agent and we had the same quality experience there.

The guides were fabulous, very focused on our safety at all times, and very knowledgable about the wildlife. They geared each drive to what we wanted to do and see. We spent a lot of time just watching and photographing the animals. We spent a long time at the Maasai village. The guides were very patient and seemed to be proud that we enjoyed Kenya and Tanzania so much.

The Serena hotels were magnificent. The food, a combination of African, Indian, and international foods allowed us to venture out to try something new and we could always find something familiar, too. Local entertainment in the evenings allowed to learn more.

Our hot air balloon driver stressed safety and cancelled our first flight attempt due to wind. We did get to do the balloon adventure the next day--awesome!

I took my son for his university graduation gift. We have memories of the trip of a lifetime!
We met so many kind, friendly people!

Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Comment: Having returned from our safari we are totally convinced that this was was absolutely the best choice in tour operators.

Bernard was wonderful to work with; the itinerary he put together for us was magnificent. We were grateful to have Raphael as our tour guide. His knowledge, experience and humor everyday was a joy. The animals well-being always came first which we truly admired and repected.

The whole safari they provided had a "family run" feel but with price and luxury you assume only large operators could provide.

We will use only them when we safari again, and will recommend only them to anyone who asks.

Comment: We (my father, sister, and son) had an absolutely incredible time and were totally satisifed with the service we received. Would like to especially thank Mr. Bernard Muchiri who was utmost professional in all of his correspondences and made us feel immediately welcome upon being greeted by him prior to the start of our safari.

We would also like to thank Michael, our guide and driver, who was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of safari tracking as well as the myriad of species we saw. He was prompt, professional, and courteous the entire time and made the safari well worth our time and effort.

The hospitality of the Savora hotels in Maasi Mara and Lake Nakuru were most accommodating - and we very impressed with the tent lodgings at the Savora Maasi Mara - it was top notched.

Have recommended your travel agency, and that of the operator to many of my colleagues as we truly were delighted from beginning to end.

My continued best to you and all the terrific folks at African Guide.

Comment: I found the operator to be utterly reliable, knowledgeable staff and they delivered what I contracted for to the letter and more.

Particular thanks to our Kenyan driver/guide George and on the Tanzanian leg James Ringo – both these gentlemen were polite, knowledgeable and looked after our every need.

The Kenyan roads however are a nightmare so the Toyota 4X4 taxi had a suspension that was not suited to the daily slog of moving from lodge to lodge over some fairly long distances on atrocious roads.

It was however a superb game viewing vehicle but without the off road capabilities of the Toyota Land Cruiser we had in Tanzania. The Land Cruiser however was superb on the bad roads but for me an atrocious game viewer when seated because all I could see was the roof canopy unless I stood up through the pop up roof. I am 1.84m tall and when seated had no view of the road ahead or a side view unless I sat next to the driver but then had no access for filming through the pop up roof. I would imagine the new Land Cruiser 70 series station wagon would be the best upgrade.

We had a bad experience balloon ride at the Masai Serena Lodge. Hit the deck at 40km per hour and dragged for 179 meters – luckily but for a few bruises no one was badly hurt but we were all badly shaken ( as was the Pilot).

The short answer to your question however is that I would use the safari operator time and time again and would highly recommend them to anyone planning a similar safari. They responded promptly to all my e mails and queries and their planning and logistics were superb and they employ staff/guides of the highest calibre.

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
