Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia seem to suffer from a post-colonial complex, where most business is run by people of European origin, however often born in one of the four countries or South Africa, not really belonging to any of them, constantly complaining about their lazy staff of African origin and the government taxes, treating the natives in a rather arrogant way and charging high prices for rather mediocre services with the words “This is Africa”. But no rule without exception. The Australian owner of the Maramba River Lodge, Livingstone takes responsibility. When I came back from a zafari and my chalet had been double-booked (given away to somebody else) he got me a hotel room in town, drove me there and even paid for it.
