Local Development Specialists
for innovative Market Development Programme
Three specialist and two administrative staff are being sought for a 4-year market development
programme in the Maruleng & Bushbuckridge municipalities (formerly Bohlabela district). Working from an office in Acornhoek the following staff will, with the support of a specialist development consortium, manage the implementation of the Bohlabela Economic Development Initiative (BEDI):
· A Tourism Specialist
· An Agribusiness Specialist
· A Community Development/LED Specialist
Applicants should be highly motivated, .exible and self-managing, and have the ability to travel
extensively in the programme area.
The development specialists will be supported by a small administrative team comprising:
· An Administrator, and
· A part-time Finance & Contracts Manager

The BEDI programme is funded by the Business Trust and will be implemented by a consortium led
by ECIAfrica. The programme aims to increase the level of investment in the area, to enhance the
productive capacity of its commercial agribusiness and tourism sectors, and to expand the ownership and income opportunities for households and communities historically excluded from the benefits of growth in these sectors. The BEDI programme will do this principally by promoting and facilitating innovative community-private partnerships around commercial land assets, and by enabling enhanced linkages
between established commercial enterprises and emerging businesses and producer groups.
