Whilst tracking desert elephants we were granted permission by the village elders to camp by a remote Himba village. This proud lady very kindly allowed us to photograph her.

Dave Armstrong: Hi Jim. Thanks for your question. The are red because they daub themselves with a mixture of animal fat and ochre.
