Sending money - 19 years ago

Try sending it by bank transfer - direct from your bank account to the relevant bank account in Zimbabwe. There will be fees your end and the receiving end but you bank should be able to track payment to the receving bank. Postal service is very unreliable especially for sending money. ...

visas - 20 years ago

I travelled through from Malawi to Zambia via Chipata in 2001. Things change so check with your embassy.. http://www.africaguide.com/country/zambia/offices.htm We were able to purchase Zambian visas at the border post although they were rather expensive at US$60 per. We had problems because they wanted to see our yellow fever vaccination cards even though they are not required (the guy was after...

Garden Route - South Africa - 17 years ago

I travelled the other way along the garden route – Cape Town to PE. When we got to Cape Town – just walked around and tried to find the best deal on car hire and ending up using Hertz as they were the best for allowing us to drop off in PE and least expensive. What to see and do all depends on what you enjoy. ====================== Going the direction you plan, here are some suggestions… ...

South Africa - 19 years ago

Hi Andrew If you only have three weeks then it would not be adviseable to travel up to Zanzibar - it is a long, long way and there is plenty to see and visit in the South - even three weeks is not that long as Cape Town and Joburg are a long way apart. Whilst in the area you can visit Victoria Falls, that's quite spectacular and shouldn't be missed. Check out some of the packages for South Afr...

Ooh, I`m coming to Mauritius - 20 years ago

Thanks kayssaven, www.dclisp.com looks like a decent ISP shame they don`t put their rates on their website. www.telecomplus.com looks more like a telecoms provider I couldn`t find any internet access info on their site. Is the telephone system widespread over there or is it concentrated around resorts and towns, is it available in the countryside? Housing for long stay does seem affordable, (...

I have been reading the messages in this Mauritius forum for 7 years and now I`m seriuosly curious and considering coming over there. Is it correct that a UK citizen can stay for up to 6 months without a visa? Does anyone have any good info, links, etc on nice affordable houses to rent for 6 month periods? Is there any paragliding going on over there? How widespread is the English language (m...

Africa Safari Trip - 19 years ago

Hi Both destinations are equally good and popular for wildlife viewing but in Southern Africa June to Sept is their winter time. In Eastern Africa June to Sept is the peak season and lodges get booked up well in advance - so you should make a booking early.
