Work in South Africa

I am extremely interested in taking a wildlife managment course and to do a practicum in SA. I have checked the internet for job placements for field guides and rangers and there seems to be very very few openings. I am from Canada and I am also wondering about work restrictions or even if this is a viable field to get into. Can anybody with experience tell me if I am wasting my time? Any help would be appreciated.
