My Moroccan husband and I are both Muslims and were married in a Muslim wedding in Spain - this is not a legal marriage in Spain and we did it because we were not happy to continue "living in sin" but we have some tax and work reasons for not wanting the marriage to be legal. However, in the summer we plan to travel around Morocco and sometimes stay in hotels (and also with my husband's relatives). Only married couples can stay in a hotel together, so my question is: is the certificate we received from the iman in Spain good enough to get a hotel room together? Are we considered as married in Morocco? We have asked at the Mosque but they are not sure.
