6 Days Mt Kenya Climb - Sirimon-Chogoria Route

This route ends with the eastern side of the mountain, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful of the access routes to the summit and easiest as far as gradients go. It requires good trekking experience.

Trip: This Trip: 6 Days Mt Kenya Climb - Sirimon-Chogoria Route
Rating: rating 4.5/5
Comment: I just returned home to Vancouver from Kenya, after both my 6 day Mt Kenya summit and a 5 day Safari.

I want to confirm that they were excellent in all respects, and I found the Africa Guide worked well in planning my vacation.

Of particular note is the fact that they did not have a single spot available for a Safari, but when they did get an opening, ( while I was away on the Mt keyna hike ), called me immediately and provided me with an excellent Safari experience for 50% of what I was otherwise going to pay if this did not become available.

One thing which caused some confusion and inconvenience for me in Kenya was the fact that American Express travellers cheques are virtually useless for converting to Schillings in Kenya. No where would Banks accept them. So I had to use ATM machines to secure the schillings. This should be mentioned in your travel information.

I found both trips excellent value for money!

Trip Operators Response:

Thanks for your feedback we are pleased you enjoyed your trip. We will certainly add the point about American Express cheques to our travel info.

Comment: Jon and I had a very successful holiday put together for us. Everything ran very smoothly. Esther was wonderful, friendly, enthusiastic, cheerful and efficient. The operator arranged a holiday that gave us a taste of everything, from budget camping to lodges to the Ark. Our climb up Mt. kenya was for me the highlight as it was a long held ambition of ours

Trip: customised itinerary
Rating: rating 4.5/5
Comment: My dealings with their staff were excellent.

The itinerary was very good, but we had to rush it a bit because of my flight delay. The operator was accommodating with a schedule change.

Martin did an excellent job to accommodate and I found him outstanding.

Over all I just loved Kenya . . . especially the people. I hope to come back again and I will remember the tour with fondness.

I would recommend the tour operator in the future and I certainly would ask for Martin as a guide.

You have played an important part of ensuring my happy visit to your country. Thank You so very much for all of your efforts.

Trip: 11 Days: Discover Kenya and Tanzania
Rating: rating 5/5
Comment: Thank you for the opportunity to comment on our experience.

We had obtained quotations from our travel agent which we rejected as too expensive. As a last minute effort one of our daughters found your details on the internet.

We arrived in Africa only days later and we were warmly greeted at the Nairobi airport by Rabbeca and escorted to our hotel.

The next day we were picked up by Rabbeca at our hotel and simply taken off on our own with the driver (Barry). It was proposed and expected that we would be traveling on the safari with others. Dou to circumstances of plane delays for others that did not happen.

Barry drove us from Nairobi to Masai Mara where accommodation was satisfactory and on the edge of the reserve. Upon arrival and after freshening up Barry immediately took us into the park for an evening viewing of animals. We saw Lions, Elephants, Hippopotamuses, Giraffes, Gazelles, Monkeys, Buffaloes, and Rhinos to name some.

Over the next few days we travelled to a number of other parks before being met by Rabbeca who placed us on a bus to cross the Border to Tanzania and onto Arusha. We were again picked up at the bus station and taken to our hotel for the night and then picked up early the next morning and taken to the tour office.

This time we were again on our own and were escorted by a driver/guide (Stanley) and a cook. We visited a number of parks including the Serengeti National Park, and the NgoroNgoro Crater.

In all, the ten days were packed full of interest with great staff, good food and fair accommodation.
On the last day we were again picked up by Rabbeca and taken to the airport.

Whilst we had heard many concerning stories about Africa at all times we felt safe and well taken care of.

We would recommend this operator to anyone who was wanting to travel in Kenya and Tanzania

Comment: Everything was perfect, Rebecca is very helpfull and everybody wanted to help us.

The Safari was amazing and fully met our expectations. Our guide "Weekie" was really nice.
If I have to go again for a safari, I will use them again and I will advise anybody wanted to go on safari to take this operator.
.
Thanks a lot for this amazing trip and see you soon.

Trip: 4 Days: Explore the Northern Rare species
Rating: rating 4.5/5
Comment: We had an excellent time with our guide, Barry, in Lake Nakuru and Samburu. He was informative, knowledgeable and interesting. We saw lots of wildlife, including a spectacular cheetah on a hunt, as well as some of the rarer species (Greve’s zebra, lions, leopards, rhinos, gerenuk) and lots of others too.

Comment: Many thanks for guiding us to the operator!

We made the maximum 14 days safari and it was above all the expectations. The weather conditions were perfect, we saw all the animals in the list and the service was immaculate.

In addition to the safari the operator took care of all of our stay in Kenya starting from the airport at arrival till to the airport for departure. It was a great pleasure to be served and guided by people that did their work not only for money but with love and full dedication.

I would strongly recommend this company to anyone interested in Kenyan nature and people.

Trip: 7 Day Kenya Safari Catch the Big 5
Rating: rating 5/5
Comment: The operator appeared as an high level organization.

Our guide-driver was skillful and helpful, from we got information about kenyan people and wildlife. Also we visited a local Maasai Mara village to see their nomadic lifestyle.

We really enjoyed our safari through many National Parks of Kenya and we can say only very good words for the leader Rebecca and like you know - the face of a company comes from their leader - so all crew were excellent.

Each day were organised very good and professionaly from the first minute we contact with the company to the last second in Kenya.

Big, big thanks. We will definitely suggest the company to all our friends.
We are satisfied and grateful and we can never forget these wonderful experiences we got in Kenya.

Comment: They picked us up from the airport and arranged overnight accommodation for us in Nairobi. All in all they proved to be both competent and helpful.

The pick from the airport worked smoothly, a blessing after an all-night flight and we were delivered to a hotel in central Nairobi as agreed.

We were picked up in the morning for our camping safari, Catch the Big Five, to visit Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Samburu National parks, with camping accommodation (hotel at Nakuru).

Mid -October was a good time to visit, at the end of the migration in the Maasai Mara, with lots of zebra and wildebeest and hence lions and cheetahs. Lake Nakuru is very beautiful and would have repaid a longer visit, but even in a short time we saw the flamingos, rhinos and a leopard. The camp site at Samburu by the river and in the trees is particularly atmospheric, and we saw lots of elephants and giraffes.

The driver, Sammy was very good at finding animals and siting the vehicle for the best views, and our cook served up plentiful and appetising meals. Camping may not be to everybody's taste, but the sites were well situated and quite adequate. To us they provided a more authentic African experience than the alternative of staying in a lodge (and much cheaper!) and a chance to see some small wild life at close quarters.

With mosquito repellant I was not bitten at all, neither did either of us have any stomach trouble.

Comment: The safari exceeded expectations.

Rebecca was very helpful setting things up and our guides Ken and Sammy were very knowledgeable and found every animal species for our cameras. The lodges were lovely - each one a little different and quite luxurious for being in the Mara.

I traveled with my two grown children, on a private safari, and we shared the experience of a lifetime together.

I will recommend this operator to anyone who inquires.

Rating: rating 5/5
Comment: They offered a good price for their 7 day safari. Even though there were only 2 of us in the 7-seater vehicle, we had our own driver and a cook.

Kenyan roads are an adventure unto themselves and is not for the faint-hearted. Our driver was knowledgeable and keen to please.

We visited Saburu, Nakuru, and Masai Mara. They were all worth seeing, although after 6 days in tents we felt we'd had enough. The cook surprised us with very tasty food.

I would definitely recommend this operator for their 7 day safari.

Comment: Our African Safari was more than expected as a result of exceptional service by ouor safari operator.

Our guide, Ken, was exceptional at finding animals that are sometimes elusive such as the Leopard and the Cheetah. We saw both Black and White Rhinos, many Lions, lots of Hippos, oodles of Elephant, Zebra and Giraffe, and saw a group of Cheetahs stock, takedown and eat a Wildebeest.

The lodges selected were outstanding. We would recommend Kenya safaris and would also recommend this operator.

Our guide was too good and the operator, so hospitable and professional.

Comment: The safari was operated as expected. The organisation was good and the guide - cook were professional and friendly people.

We have realized that in Kenya there are no intermediate level structures around the Parks, our campsite were basic but confortable as the budget hotels too. We can sincerely advise anybody, with a minimum of adventure spirit, to make such experience.

Trip: Kenya Big 5 Safari and Beach Holiday
Rating: rating 4.5/5
Comment: The operator was very friendly and helpful. The sales person I dealt with (Anastacia) responded very quickly to all questions and was very flexible in trying to meet my requirements and she provided as much information as possible. The information regarding what to bring and what is included in the cost and trip is VERY helpful.

The driver (Ben) and cook(Kutta) were lovely and very informative about the history, the animals and provided some entertaining stories. The Food was VERY VERY tasty and very filling. Ben's driving was good and safe and love of animals was fantastic because he was very enthusiastic about the game drives and enojyed observing the animals.

Overall Thoughts:
The service from our operator was very helpful and friendly. We had a very enjoyable safari with all the creature comforts we requested. The tented camps were very nice, some had beds! The van was always clean. Our driver was very good at spotting the animals and equipped us with helpful advice so that we could spot some animals. We saw lots of animals and had a very enjoyable time.

I would definately contact this operator for advice on future safaris and maybe even go with them again. Thank you.

Trip: 6 Days: Discover Tanzania Safari
Rating: rating 4/5
Comment: Excellent tour.

We had a wonderful driver/guide and a great cook. Game drives and meals exceeded our expectations.

However it was a bit of a disappointment to have to pay an extra 520 Euros for our group at the last minute because of Tanzania National Park fee increases.

Trip Operators Response:

We are pleased you enjoyed your tour with us.
The National Park entrance fees are set by the Park Authority and can occasionally change, this is something we have no control over but endeavour to warn clients beforehand, usually we are given notice by the authority. Unfortunately this change happened quite suddenly, hence the extra fee your group had to pay for park entrances.

Comment: Our trip with was excellent.

Their staff was very helpful and very courteous. Our driver Elius was just the best as the roads were so treacherous. We lucked out with only the three of of us on the tour and got fabulous photos.

Beautiful country and beautiful people. We plan to return and would highly recommend this operator and we will use them when we return.

They did a fabulous job on arranging the trip.

Trip: 7 day Kenya Safari - Shadow of Kilimanjaro
Rating: rating 4/5
Comment: We had a great time in the game reserves and saw all animals. It was a good choice to take our time (7 days) and not to press everything into 2-3 days.

Staff was friendly and helpful, this includes airport and downtown office aswell as driver and cook.

They were flexible enough to fulfil requests of oursmall group (4 people). The setting of the Amboseli campsite right in the park between mountain and elephants is beautiful.

The safari was according to our expectations, maybe a bit more briefing (tipping, no water & electricity in Amboseli) at an earlier stage would have been helpful.

Cheers,
Thilo

Trip Operators Response:

Thanks for your feedback we are pleased you enjoyed your trip. We will certainly add those points to our briefings.

Comment: We completed a basic camping safari in the week of 5th to 12th Feb. The services offered by the tour operator were good. While arranging for the trip there was a prompt response to our queries. We had asked for an itinerary of Samburu, Amboseli and Tsavo in the seven days that we were in Kenya, the itinerary was made available to us, all the promises were fulfilled, we had a great time. For special mention is their cook Alex, who dished out really good meals during the trip.

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
