Day 1
Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park
Your start point is at Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) where you are picked up from your accommodation and transferred to the border with Botswana. After border formalities you travel the short distance to Kasane. We spend the afternoon game driving in Chobe National Park, following the Chobe River. Chobe is renowned for its huge herds of elephants that migrate between Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe and the Okavango Delta.
Day 2
Savuti, Linyanti
Accessible by 4x4 wheel drive only we head deep into the south-west corner of Chobe National Park to the Savuti Marsh, a relic of a large inland lake fed occasionally by the Savuti Channel. The region is also made up of rolling savannah which attracts many different species of antelope and herds of zebra wildebeest, buffalo and elephant. These, in turn, attract many predators including lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog.
Day 3
Moremi Game Reserve
Nestled next to the Okavango Delta waters the Moremi Reserve offers unrivalled game viewing. The combination of different habitats from Mopane woodlands to Acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons make this area a stunning place of beauty, enhanced by the diverse array of wildlife found here. Sightings of leopard, wild dogs, cheetah and lion are common as well as elephant, giraffe and zebra. Common nighttime visitors to camp are spotted hyena and honey badgers.
Day 4 – 5
Maun, Okavango Delta
We continue to Maun, gateway to the Okavango Delta and journey for a day into the ‘Delta’ in mokoros (dugout canoes) and take a game walk in search of elephant, wild dog, buffalo, lion and more. The ‘Delta’ is a huge inland water system dotted with thousands of islands that are a haven for a diverse array of wildlife. This is a unique environment where dry land and water collide.
Day 6 – 7
Makgadikgadi Pans, Kasane,
Leaving Maun, we travel to the Makgadikgadi Pans – vast shimmering salt flats on the edge of the Kalahari basin. Sleeping out under the night sky under a blanket of stars is something. We travel back towards Kasane and transfer vehicles again at the border for our onwards journey to Victoria Falls where this tour ends.
