This 4* Lodge is located on the banks of the Govuro River in Mozambique overlooking the estuary. The lodge faces west and enjoys spectacular sunsets in a quiet and peaceful setting.
With luxury lodge accommodation including six twin chalets, and two luxury villas which sleep six adults and six children. Each villa has its own swimming pool and lovely views of the estuary. We also have a lovely honeymoon chalet. This is the perfect destination for a peaceful family holiday or for the hardworking professional looking to unwind.
The main area consists of a lounge with TV, dining room and bar, all connected a big wooden deck in front and a plunge pool. The view from the bar is spectacular, especially at sunset.
This is not only a fishing lodge, but also offers good bird watching, kayaking and snorkelling to name but a few of the lodge’s beach holiday activities. We also offer a fine dining with an abundance of fresh seafood, from crab to calamari.
Our 31 foot fishing boat is perfect for a variety of types of Deep-sea fishing. With a supply of good fishing spots not far off the coast a huge variety of fish can be caught here. Most commonly being Mackerel, Cuta, King Fish, Queenfish as well as seasonal Marlin and Sailfish. These fish can be caught using a variety of different techniques, i.e. lure, fly, jigging and bait fishing. The estuary offers many species of fish for light tackle fishing and fly fishing.
Enjoy the Island experience by spending a day on Paradise Island which is part of the Bazaruto Archipelago Marine Park – the snorkelling around Paradise Island is stunning and the water and beaches pristine. Take a local dhow from the mainland to the island and relax while the staff prepares a seafood lunch on the beach for you. These trips can be booked at the Lodge.
Explore the estuary from one of our little “tinnie” boats – our experienced guides will take you up the waterways where you can see a large variety of water birds, as well as try your hand at light tackle fishing.
Relax with a book, take a walk on the beach or go kayaking – there is so much to do – or not to do here.
Chalets – each of the 6 thatch style, beach chalets have electrical plug points, fans, mosquito nets, en-suite showers, twin basins, night lamps and cupboard space, as well as chairs on the deck outside.
Villas – the 2 luxury villas are also made of wood & thatch and overlook the estuary. Both have their own private deck with lovely views and private plunge pools. They both have a lounge with overhead fans and full kitchen for private dining. Each of the 3 double rooms downstairs are all en-suite with electrical plug points, fans, mosquito nets, night lamps and cupboard space. The villas also have a loft area with beds that can accommodate up to 6 people – mainly meant for children.
Once in Vilanculos you will be collected by staff from the Lodge and transferred by road to Inhassoro. This is about an hours drive. From there you travel 35km on the beach to your destination. If the tide is high, you will sit at a beach bar and enjoy a few local beers before being able to travel onto the lodge. Your adventure has already begun - Perfect!
