Hello

I want to buy a car in nairobi and then drive down all the way to cape town.
Is it very hard to buy a car for a foreigner? With the registration and stuff like that.
Hard to sell it in cape town?
Maybe anyone can tell me where to drive and what is scenic along the way.

i live here in Nairobi and i can only advise you to find a honest friend and buy your car in his name and after you have finished your work with it you can ask him to sell the car and have your money back. most foreigners do that.

I arrive in cape town 31st may 09 and have two months to get to nairobi. There's two of us and we are looking to buy a car in cape town and sell it in nairobi. it's two girls and we aren't mechanic's, how mad would it be to travel on our own taking the typical route that most overland tours take?? any advice on car buying / selling and preparation required would be greatly appreciated. We have been to Ghana, Togo before so have some knowledge of african landscape / culture.

Buying a car as a foreigner is not a big problem in Nairobi. I'm Swedish and bought a car here. I travelled all the way down to Cape Town and back again(you can't sell a Kenyan car outside Kenya). If you are still interested I'm selling the car now. It's a Diahatsu Rocky 1990. Worked perfectly all the way down and back, and it already have all the necessary paper and equipment you need.
