You 'll really like Studying in Egypt

I am an American student and I am hoping to attend the American University in Cairo next year. I don't know anything about the university and was wondering if anyone had any helpufl information concerning-
-is the university a good school
-how are american students (especially female) perceived in Egypt
-is it safe for me to study there
-is the cost of living very high

there are a number of universities here now that use the american system , u could easily join any of them , all u need is to come and choose , prices differs from one to the other, the american university in cairo could make ur studies free or even give u a special discount if u apply, they encourage american students to come and study here, u could also find a job easily here and have extra money for ur studies

i read your email and decided to respond to you cause i know very well how worried you may be.

I am an AUC graduate around 20 years ago, i have to tell you that AUC is still the best and the relations you will have will last forever with you.

It is the best univ. in egypt and the best answer to this is that its graduates are the most highly paid in the country and in the middle east.

They are perceived quiet normal, you will enjoy it more than you will suffer. Egypt is a really safe place to live in and wonder around, i was having a late dinner last night and the restaurent i went to in the table next to me there were around 5 or 6 girls from 18 to 21 years old, they were alone and they left at almost midnight. so dont worry about this at all.

Depends on where and how do you wanna live, you can stay in the AUC hostle or you can have a roomate in one of the appartments close by the campus. as for the food its really cheap, a cheese burger would cost you around 0.5 USD , a can of coke 0.25USD.

hello .. yea, as Khofo said, you 'll really like staying and studying in Egypt. I have 4 American friends studying in American Univ in Cairo, they really like it. Moreover, don' worry, it's quite safe for girls here; I 've been out with those 3 guys + 1 girl last Friday, we stayed at a cafe in the street till 1:20 am.
