Hi, I'm a student from the UK, looking to move once I've got my qualifications etc. I don't want the typical 'move to Australia' thing, and I've been interested in Africa for a while now, so I thought I'd give that a go.

I'm very academic, hoping to study Business management at university, and then on to management accountancy to give me some financial background. Is there anywhere in particular in Africa that would give me good oppurtunities? Johannesburg is the only place I can really think of, and I'd be happy to go, but i'd like to look around.

I prefer Southern Africa, e.g South Africa, Botswana, Nambia etc, and also looked at Kenya. Any preferences? Reasons?

thanks for any help

Hi,

I think moving to a different country and location is very exciting and after doing the same thing in Africa, I came to realize that Kenya actually offers the best place for relocation and even for educative opportunities for growth.

When you look at the currency value – which is a very important factor to consider, you find that whichever expenses you may or will incur while in Kenya is nothing compared to the British or American currency thus for you being British, you will spend less in accommodation and food (which are the main issues to look at).

Also, the country has good universities that one can enroll into and get some excellent education as compared to other African countries.
I would advice you to consider Kenya and if you may require more info, just let me know and I will provide you with enough data about the country and cheap + expensive places to live, and how to go on about it.

Regards,

/P

Thanks, to be honest I've been more interested in South Africa, despite its problems, but Kenya as you say seems to offer one of the best places for relocation and such. As far as South Africa is concerned, Cape Town doesn't really feel like Africa and Joburg and Durban might be a little risky, both crime and jobwise.

What are the larger cities like in Kenya? Preferrably the capital. Is there a large white population (3%+)?

Although it's one of the most important factors I'm not too interested in living costs etc at the moment, I have a few years to go yet until I make a decision. What I'm more interested in is job prospects, how far has the African 'brain drain' affected Kenya?
