Heya I was wondering if anyone could help me?!

A friend and I are planning to drive from Ethiopia down to South Africa next summer as part of our Gap Year. We have both done several expeditions before with our schools and external organisations and keen travellers, however, this is one we would want to do alone.

We originally anticipated that we could get a car from a contact I have is South Africa but it is now no longer possible, I was wondering if anyone knew the chance of buying a cheap but reliable 4WD in Addis Abeba which, we could sell at the other end in Cape Town?

Any information would be really useful as we are starting from basic principles. We originally will be starting in Marrakech and using internal flights and public transport to get us to Ethiopia. (Addis Abeba) I deally it is here we would like to make the journey our own but getting a 4WD or are we better off waiting until we get to Kenya?

Thanks,
Hannah

Hi. I don't know much about Addis Ababa but I can assure you there are lots of cheap reliable 4WDs in Nairobi. You could arrange with someone to get one and take it up North for you so it's ready when you arrive. I hope you get someone from Addis to reply to your post because of course it would be much easier.
