I organize events with decouvrirlhumanite.fr . In these events, we talk about the inside culture of the country, parts of the culture, it is difficult to find information on by simply surfing on the net.
Hence, I am talking about Tanzania tonight and there are some questions which I thought you may be able to answer on which I am a bit short.
I am extremely sorry for the short notice, and understand if you are not able to answer so rapidly. Any question you feel you may partly answer would be a lot of help...
1 - Is lake Tanganyika also falling victim to pollution or is it currently well-preserved?
2- From what age do children start carrying their baby brother or sister on their backs.
3- Up to what age are children usually carried?
4 - Is the fact of carrying children on the back usually a good prevention system as regards back problems?
5 - Are markets often weekly, monthly or daily events in middle sized towns?
6 - Can you find everything in markets or is it more a question of having a daily fish market and a monthly cloth market? What types of markets are there?
7- Are market habits the same in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania?
8- Is it easier to haggle on cloth prices than on food prices or is haggling the norm for all types of products and services?
9 - Do men also wear plaits on their hair or is it mostly reserved to women?
10 - I feel people wear more plaits in Tanzania than in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. Is this really the case?
11 - Do plait fashion change over the years?
12 - Do people mostly use sailing boats or motor boats to fish and travel on lake Tanganyika nowadays? Does this evolve or not so much so?
13 - Do small boats stay the norm on this lake?
14- Is the MV Liemba a very famous boat, even considered as a luxury boat, or is it a boat like many others?
15 - Is the food mainly based on fish or meat? What staple food is most used? What is the norm for a meal? Do people who live close to the lake have breakfast, lunch, dinner?
16 - What time do people usually wake up, have school, eat, go to sleep?
17 - Is the relationship to children different, to your mind obviously in Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia?
I am aware how diverse and strange these questions may seem. In a way, these very practical aspects help people who have never travelled to these countries empathize with other cultures.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and answer, may it be in very short terms...
