present- day situation?

we are going to tanzania and malawi in about 4 weeks. now we are a little bit worried because of reports about food shortage and increasing criminality in south african countries. is there anybody who can tell us about the situation of today in these countries? what things do we have to care about?

My friends and I just returned from Tanzania. Three women, two young girls and one man.We had absolutely no problems at all. If you get a good tour guide you should be fine. I would not advise renting a car an going on your own because of the road conditions. I will highly recommend Wonderful Tours through African Guide. Anicet Philip was our guide and he was fantastic.
