Hey everyone! I am planning on going to South Africa next summer with my best friend - we're both in college and are traveling to Phalaborwa I know its in the Limpopo Province and next to Kruger National Park. But, I have been reading about it online quite a bit and still can't figure out if it's really safe or not, I know I have to stay in the car at the park but I am mainly worried about violence and such.

I'm sure it's fine but, the websites I'm finding don't provide much information about this particular spot and some say it is safe and some don't. So it would be great if I could get some feedback and advice when traveling there - Really I am open to hearing ANYTHING. Thank you soo much!!

Hi. I have been to Phalaborwa a number of times, and have taken the children and both sets of grandparents, so would not have a problem with recommending the place.

I take it that you are aware that apart from being a Gate into Kruger, it is also a Mining Town has developed around servicing the Mining Industry? The gate for Kruger is only 2km away and is a great entrance point to get to Letaba or Olifants within Kruger for lunch. There are quite a few places to book a Night Drive and we would recommend this.

The Hans Merensky Golf Course/Country Club is a great place to stay (but pricey) or visit for the pool and bar
