East Africa and South
Asia Earthquake - Tsunamis Relief
Africa has been very fortunate
to escape the worst of the devastating earthquake and resulting tsunamis that
occurred on December 26th 2004. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been
affected
Currently over 140,000
people have lost their lives and 1000's are still missing in Sri Lanka, India,
Somalia, Sumatra, Thailand, and Indonesia. Sadly there is little we can do for
those who have lost their lives - but we can all help ease the suffering of
those who are affected.
It is reported that over 5 million people
across South East Asia and parts of East Africa are in desperate need of Aid.
The initial focus is on stopping the spread of disease and delivering food and
drinking water to survivors and then there is the long term rehabilitation of
the hard hit places where some millions of people have lost their homes and
livelihoods.
Most of you reading this will be travellers, many of whom
would have been fortunate in the past to have visited some of the places that
have been destroyed - spare a thought for those suffering and reach deep into
your pockets.
Your financial donation is needed now, however small,
(every penny counts) - it will help provide medicine, clothing, food, and
shelter for victims of this terrible disaster.
