| Kruger To Durban |
It covers six major game reserves from the world renown Kruger, to the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve which is not only the oldest game reserve in South Africa but responsible for saving the Rhino. |
I T I N E R A R Y Day 1 We depart from Johannesburg and make our way north, into the heart of Mpumalanga. Our first night will be on the edge of the escarpment. This will be our base to explore what is known as the panoramic route, and take in sights like Gods Window, Burkes Luck Potholes, Pilgrims Rest and much more. Days 2 & 3 We leave Graskop and make our way down the escarpment to the Timbavati, where we will spend the next two nights in a private game lodge. We will explore this private section of the Greater Kruger Park in open safari vehicle and, where necessary, venture off-road to obtain close sightings of some of the more endangered species. We will also experience the African wilderness at night by doing two night drives. Day 4 We depart from the Timbavati and enter the public sector of Kruger National Park. This night will be spent on the banks of the Sabie River, in the Lower Sabie Rest Camp. Today we will show you why Kruger has become world renown, and amaze you with the parks sheer size. Day 5 We leave Kruger and make our way through Swaziland towards KwaZulu-Natal, where our first stop over will be Pongola Private Game Reserve. Pongola Private Game Reserve is located on the Pongola dam, and can therefore offer a game cruise, which gives a whole new feeling to the African Bush. Days 6 & 7 We continue south and enter South Africa’s oldest game reserve, which became famous in the 1960's with its "Operation Rhino". Today it is believed that about four fifths of the world's Black and White Rhino originate from this park, Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. Not unlike Kruger, this park is so big that it would do it a great injustice to spend less than two nights here, allowing us to explore the diverse fauna and flora. Days 8 & 9 We enter the St Lucia Wetland Park (a World heritage site), which has been granted world heritage status. The park is home to South Africa's largest Hippo and Crocodile populations. We will spend the next two nights at Cape Vidal, right on the unspoilt beaches and dunes of this beautiful park. While in the park, we will venture up the estuary on a cruise to view the many hippos and crocs. Day 10 We leave this little piece of paradise and continue our journey south towards Durban, but not before making one last stop. We visit ShakaLand, a Zulu Cultural Village. That night we join the people of the village in a traditional feast of eating and dancing. This was also the sight where the movie "Shaka" was made. Day 11 We finally reach Durban, also known as the Sunshine City. That afternoon will be spent at Ushaka Marine World before ending the tour. Birding can be incorporated into this tour. We have one of the countries best bird guides (one of six), available to do this tour for you should you be a keep birder. Please feel free to request a list of special birds we could find for you on this tour. All the tours we offer are perfectly suited to be the ideal family holiday. As we do not mix groups together you don’t have to worry about loud or over active children getting in the way of anybody else. Our guides understand that tours with children need to be handled a little differently! On request we can even provide prams, car seats and booster seats for very young children.
