Burkina Faso has gone by several names. A former French colony, it gained independence in 1960. It is populated by over 60 ethnic groups which includes the Mossi, the Fula, the Hausa, the Bella, the Dogon and various tribes. The capital of Burkina Faso is Ouagadougou which has become famous for its biennial film festival FESPACO, attracting thousands of people from Africa and all over the world.
Day 1
Travel to Ouagadougou the capital of Burkina Faso. After welcoming at the airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 2
Transfer to Bobo- Dioulasso, in the Dioula- language it means the home of the Bobo and the Dioula. This is the second city of the country and the old colonial capital. It is a enjoyable place because of the lively atmosphere and many green. Bobo has a big market and a loam mosque in Sandanian style (end nineteenth century). A real African environment ! We stay for overnight in a hotel.
Day 3
Today we bring a visit to Koro in the hills. We bring a visit to the old working mosque, cathedral and the station. After that we drive to Banfora, where we stay for overnight in a hotel.
Day 4
We go on excursion to the domes of Fabedougou. After that we relax at the Karfiguela waterfalls. Also we bring a visit to Tengrela lake. This is a small lake near Ouagadougou. We overnight in a African Lodge.
Day 5
We take a walk by the lake and we bring a visit to the Hippos lake. After that we visit the peaks of Sindou, who still have a important role in the rituals of the Sénoufo. This is a big nature area with rocks where you can take a nice walk. A few miles further we find the village of the caveman called ‘Niansogoni. After that we return to Banfora, where we stay for overnight in a hotel.
Day 6
Long transfer to Ouagadougou. We accommodate in a local area. We stay for overnight in a hotel.
Day 7
Excursion to Manega, a place on 50 km distance from Ouagadougou. We bring a visit to the most famous museum of Ouagadougou. Here you will find a collection of more than 500 masks, statues, room of the dead people and other traditional art objects. In the late afternoon we bring a visit to the crowned caiman of Bazoulé, a village of the Mossi, the most important group of the population of Burkina Faso. After that transfer to Ouagadougou.
Day 8
Hotel of your own choice, on own costs.
Free day in Ouagadougou and transfer to the airport of Ouagadougou for your flight back to your home destination. The end of a wonderful round trip through Burkina Faso.
