SANGHA
Mali, located in West- Africa, is often indicated as the land of welcome and the ground of hospitality. Mali is one of the largest African Cultural crossroads. The mythical country Dogon will make you travel in the mythical world of Dogons. Mali kept to jealously its cultural and habits. The diversity of the sights and their qualities remain always neutral modernism. The city Djenné which keeps its very local architecture will open its doors. This city is also famous for its Mosque. Mali with hundreds of authentic, mystical and beautiful sites will fill you with wonder.
Day 1
Travel to Ouagadougou the capital of Burkina Faso. After welcoming at the airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 2
Today we will depart from Ouagadougou and drive to Sangha. This is the heart of Dogonland in Mali.
There are about 700 Dogon villages, where we will visit the most beautiful Togunas of Dogonland. In Sangha we can make a beautiful walk. Sangha is a good place for starting in Dogon. We stay for camping.
Day 3
Today in Sangha we will discover the villages of Dogon and Tereli. You will walk through the authentic villages and will be amazed of the Dogon live. While woman cook on the courtyard, the man are discussing important matters about the villages in the shadow. Their believe plays a big role in the Dogon Culture and masks are used symbolic for religious ceremonies, funerals and to worship their ancestors. With a little luck you can experience a masker dance, which mostly happens in the village Tereli. We camp in Tereli.
Day 4
Today we will continue our tour through Tereli, while we walk through Ireli, Amani and Banani. These are also little villages in Dogon. We stay here for camping once more.
Day 5
From Banani we go back to Sangha for a transfer to Mopti. The harbor of this city let us embark on our pinasse for a boat ride on the river Niger.
Day 6
We continue our tour and visit riverside towns of the big river. We arrive in Konan and depart to Djenné by car, the most beautiful town of Mali. We visit the Mosque of Djenné (the highest loam construction in the world), with it’s famous color full market. A nice example of the Sudanese construction style. After this visit we take the road to Burkina Faso. Overnight stay in a hotel on the way.
Day 7
Today we continue our journey to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 8
We depart to Manega, with a visit to the famous museum. A local poet turned the small village into a monument of world peace and African Culture. Here are more than 500 masks exhibited. On the way back we visit the hand- crafted center. After that transfer to the airport of Ouagadougou for your flight back to your home destination. The end of a wonderful round trip through Mali and Burkina Faso.
