This safari includes overnight stays at 4 exclusive, private boutique style lodges with game drives, river rides and bush walks included, and can be combined with Zambia, Secret Jewels (1) to form a cohesive 14 night safari of both north and south Kafue National Park. Itinerary Days 1+2 arr Lusaka. Met at airport Drive west to enter Kafue National Park. Stay for two nights at a well known lodge on the banks of the Kafue River. Evening game drive into “wild” side of Kafue or evening sunset cruise are included) (drive 4 hours). Days 3+4 Drive the short distance through the GMA to a lodge on the banks of the Kafue River , run by owner/manger and botanist Tom Heineken. Spend two nights, where activities game walks, game and night drives, river cruises, fishing and sundowners on a nearby rocky outcrop overlooking the Kafue valley and riverine forest, are included. (day 3 drive 3 hours) Day 5 Drive further south, past Itechi-Techi dam, the man made dam on the Kafue river, supplying water to greater Lusaka, and on to Nanzhila Plains in the southern section of Kafue National Park. Stay for one night in en-suite safari tents at a camp on the Plains. (drive 4 hours) Days 6+7 Arrive Livingstone. Stay for two nights at a unique lodge, high above the Batoka Gorge. Activities include visits to local village markets, gorge walks (great for birders) and visits to the Victoria Falls. (drive 5 hours) Day 8 Safari ends after breakfast. Transfer to airport. You will be accompanied through out by an experienced driver/guide and transported in an air conditioned comfortable bush vehicle. All activities will be provided by staff from each lodge according to its location and speciality. Price The price of the above itinerary of 7 nights for 2009 is US $ 2,750 per person for a minimum of four people travelling together.
