Day 1: Arrive, Johannesburg to Blyde River Canyon

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International) you will be met by our Guide, who will be your host for the duration of your safari. After a short introduction, you will begin your trip down the escarpment to the Lowveld of South Africa. This 4 hour drive will give you an opportunity to get to know your guide, and ask any questions you may have.

Your first destination is the Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world which boasts awesome views and fairy tale forests. Its wide variety of activities attracts many a tourist, while the landscape has turned many a tourist into residents.

Your guide will escort you on a scenic tour of this amazing natural wonder. Your tour will take you to God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Mac-Mac Falls and if time allows, Pilgrims Rest.

The day will end at your hotel, where you can book in relax and enjoy your beautiful surroundings.

Day 2: Blyde River Canyon & Kruger National Park

After a scrumptious breakfast, we take a short walk to the Hazyview Elephant Sanctuary. Here you will take part in the “Hand in Trunk” programme, a once in a lifetime opportunity to walk with elephants while the meander along the morning feeding route. The experience will allow you to touch and feel these beautiful creatures as the local caretakers inform you of the ecological importance and conservation status.

We will then return to the Hotel, to freshen up before heading onwards to the Kruger National Park.

In the late-morning, we enter this world famous conservation area, where Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast 2-million hectare game sanctuary. Hopefully we will see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even giraffe before we reach camp.

The Kruger Park offers a choice of seven camps, each situated in a different section of the park with its own unique flora and fauna: Skukuza, Letaba, Olifants, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskop, Satara and Berg-en-Dal. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable thatched game park bungalows, with each camp having a restaurant

Days 3, 4, 5, & 6: Kruger National Park – South Africa

Your days will be spent exploring the vast Kruger Plains, which offer magnificent game viewing opportunities. Renowned for its diversity and home to approximately 145 mammal and over 500 bird species, this amazing sanctuary is bound to provide you with some awesome game viewing.

Y our knowledgeable guide will provide you with insight into the different species and ecological phenomena you come across. Your daily routine will include early morning and late afternoon game drives with your guide, while one game drive per day will be in an open-top game viewing vehicle operated by the Kruger National Park (either early morning, late afternoon or evening).

The hotter mid-day periods will be spent relaxing at camp reading, bird watching, swimming or just taking a cat-nap in the shade of a tree.

You will also participate in a 3 hour morning game walk escorted by 2 expert Kruger rangers. This will give you the opportunity to learn about the smaller things you will not see from a vehicle as well as a few basic tracking techniques. Your ranger will also introduce you to the cultural and medicinal uses of the endemic trees. And if you are really luck, you might just come across one of the Big 5 on foot!

In the evening, enjoy the balmy weather and pristine stars of the Southern Sky and Milky Way, as you have never seen them before – including the spectacular Southern Cross.

Day 7: Cape Town via Johannesburg

After breakfast, and your final Game Drive you will be escorted back to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) to catch your connecting flight to Cape Town (in some cases this may be via Johannesburg).

Arrive at Cape Town International Airport and meet your Cape Town holiday host, who will transfer you to your luxury accommodation conveniently situated on Camps Bay Beach.

Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.

Day 8, 9, 10 & 11: Cape Town

You will spend you days enjoying the beaches, history, scenic vistas, and cultural wonders of the City. The tour includes 2 full day tour experiences, which will take place on day 8 and 9.

Your first tour will take you to the V & A Waterfront, where you will partake in a 4 hour tour of Robben Island. This touching experience will be led by an ex-inmate who will immerse you in the history of this island, which once held the great Nelson Mandela. After Lunch, your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of Cape Town. This tour will includes historical highlights of the area including the Castle of Good Hope and Signal Hill, with the tour coming to culmination on the top of Table Mountain.

The second, is a full day tour of the Fairest Cape. You will travel along the spectacular coastline of the Peninsula through charming historical villages. On the return journey you will pass through naval Simons Town, and stop to see its resident penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The tour also make a short stop at the Living Hope HIV/AIDs craft centre, your opportunity to support this self-help scheme by purchasing some of their hand-made products, before returning to your hotel.
