Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Blyde River Canyon
On arrival at OR Tambo International, you will be met by your Safari Guide. He will be your host throughout the safari section of the Tour. After collecting your luggage, and initial introductions, you will begin your scenic 5 hours drive to Blyde River Canyon. This will give you the opportunity to get to know your guide, and learn a little bit about the areas you drive through.
If time permits you will stop off at Pilgrims Rest to explore this historic mining town of years gone by. We will then head to our overnight destination at the 4 star Rissington Inn, here you will stay in the one of the Hillside suites, with beautiful sweeping views of the Canyon and it surrounds.
Day 2: Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park
Today, is no doubt going to be highlight for both adults and the kids. We start with breakfast before heading to the Elephant Sanctuary to take part on the 2 hour experience of a life time. Here you will walk with Elephants “hand in trunk” along their morning feeding route, learning about their ecology and conservation threats. It is a wonderful opportunity to get close and personal with these wonderful animals. You will also have the option to ride one of the animals at an additional cost.
We then head north to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, here you will take part in a 3 hour tour of the centre, learning about the animals from the people that care for them. You will have the chance to meet lions, rhinos, cheetah, wild dogs, and a wide variety of other species and in some cases even touch them.
In the late afternoon, we will enter the Kruger National Park, one of the greatest conservation and wildlife destinations in the world. Game viewing opportunities should come about immediately, with impala, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and kudu being plentiful, and if we are truly lucky maybe we will catch a glimpse of one of the Big 5. We overnight in luxury tents in Kruger.
Day 3, 4, 5 & 6: Kruger National Park
As you will have you own private safari guide, the next few days happenings are entirely up to you. You guide will be on hand to take you out on Game Drives as well as provide incite into the area as well as the animals, birds, trees and other phenomena you see. It is likely that you will go out everyday at sunrise and in the late afternoon, to take advantage of the cooler periods which provide the best conditions for game viewing. However, the length of and departure times of all your private drive is entirely up to you.
In the evenings you will go out on scheduled night drives with the trained rangers of the Kruger National, in open air safari trucks, providing you with further opportunities to see the larger predators and interesting night creatures.
You guide will be on hand at night to prepare dinner for you and your family, while you discuss the routes and departure times of the next days game drives.
Please note: At this point in time we are unable to say which Camps you will be staying in as this is dependant on availability at the time of booking.
