As you drive to your hotel situated on the beautiful sea front, you will feel the sea air from Maputo Bay fill your lungs, and be entranced by this beautiful and historic City.
Book in and relax in your gorgeous surroundings.
We will spend the afternoon wandering through the city sightseeing. Your guide will provide you with intimate knowledge of Maputo with its incredible history and various cultures. As the sun begins to set in the late afternoon, we will head to the beach to enjoy sundowners before devouring a fabulous seafood meal. Your guide will then escort you to some of the local night clubs where salsa dancing is a rife and more intoxicating than the cocktails themselves.
Day 2: Inhaca Island Inhaca Lodge
The morning will be spent exploring this city of tremendous contrast. Maputo is enchanting with wide acacia lined avenues and tall buildings overlooking Maputo Bay and the Indian Ocean. One of the citys more fascinating features is the remarkable wealth of architecture making it unique amongst Africas cities. We will explore the area on foot, visiting several historical sites, and a number of local craft markets.
After Lunch, your guide will escort you to the Marina, where you will depart by boat to Inhaca Island. Your guide will return to his accommodation, while you enjoy this wonderful location. This small island, lying just 40 km off Maputo and positioned at the entrance to Delagoa Bay. On the fringe of the tropics, it is rich in breathtaking beaches, coral reefs and exotic marine life, offering amazing scuba diving sites and big-game fishing. As it is a National Heritage site, this island is practically uninhabited, leaving long white untouched beaches for you to explore.
Day 3 & 4: Inhaca Island Inhaca Lodge
Your leisurely days will begin with a full buffet breakfast served with freshly baked scones and pastries.
Spend your day lazing in the comfort of your bright and airy chalet. Stroll around the picturesque tropical gardens. Take a leisurely swim in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean and soak up the glorious African sun. If you're feeling energetic, take advantage of the water sports on offer, or join one of Inhaca Lodge's fascinating tours of the area. Ultimately the choice is yours, you can do as much or as little as you want.
Lunches and dinners are served on the terrace or picnic lunches can be arranged for outings while seafood barbeques are a Chefs favourite.
Day 5: Inhambane Flamingo Bay Lodge
Today, we leave the island and return to Maputo, where you will be met by Mozambique host. Time will be given to do some quick shopping in the local markets before we depart by road to Inhambane, a scenic 5 hour drive.
Inhambane is located 485km north of Maputo on Mozambiques Manta Coast. This area is fast becoming world famous for its spectacular diving, friendly Mozambique people and breathtaking scenery. The diving can compare with some of the best in the world and is still a relatively well-kept secret.
From the awesome sightings of Manta Rays, Whale sharks and Humpback Whales to the sought after Harlequin Shrimp, Frogfish and Sea Horses there is something to please everyone. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life and the reefs are pristine. The species list is endless and the colours of the pristine reefs beyond description, and there is still so much to discover!
The area has two completely different diving environments. There are 16 different reefs out to sea that range in depth from 7 40 metres, and then there is the Barra Lagoon near the mangrove swamps, which has its own unique eco-system. Water temperatures range from 29 degrees Celsius in summer months to 22 degrees Celsius in winter while visibility ranges from 8m to 40m, depending on how much plankton there is in the water. These conditions provide with a fantastic all year round diving experience.
Check into your Lodge, relax and enjoy.
