I T I N E R A R Y

Day 1:
Upon arrival, you host family will meet you at the airport and transfer to their home. Overnight at host home, full board basis.

Day 2: Y
ou will spend this day getting acquitted with your host family, part taking in activities and duties of the family and visit the city. Overnight at host home, full home.

Day 3:
Wood carving is traditional skill that has passed on from one generation to another. The best known carvers in East Africa are the Makonde. This morning we will go to a Makonde Carver who will teach the family how to carve. This will be approximately 4 hours with a break for lunch. After lunch, visit a children rehabilitation centre, HIV/AIDS Children Home or a school. Overnight with you host on full board basis.

Day 4:
Kisampa Camp is ideal for the whole family where activities will include Collecting firewood or water for the evening meal, assist cooking on a traditional camp oven, search for turtle nests on a remote beach, assist local fisherman pull in their nets of the daily catch, patrol with the anti-poaching flight or animal count in a light aeroplane, help build a village toilet or school, Enjoy a day’s introduction to Kiswahili or learn a local dance or simply relax by the camp

Day 5:
Days spend at Kisampa Camp, and overnight at Camp, full board.

Day 6:
Morning departure for Saadani National park, with a picnic basket. Overnight at Kisampa Camp, full board.

SAADANI NATIONAL PARK is Tanzania's only protected coastal wildlife preserve was gazetted in 1964. covers an area of some 250 sq km from the Wami river in the south to the Mligaji river in the north, with the Moshi railway line as the western boundary. Saadani is located in what is historically a very important coastal strip emerging as an important trading post, appearing on maps from the early 19th century. The village also contains a ruined fort, built by Arab slavers in the last century.

Day 7:
Morning departure for Mikumi National Park. Overnight at Camp on full board basis.

Day 8:
Morning game drive and late afternoon game drive and overnight at Lodge, full board.

MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK is Tanzania's third largest National Park and covers an area of 3230 sq km. One of the principal features of Mikumi is the Mkata River flood plain, an area of lush vegetation, which particularly attracts elephants and buffaloes. The park is flanked between the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains. Open grasslands dominate in the flood plain, eventually merging with the miombo woodlands covering the lower hills. Mikumi National Park is home to buffalos, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards and is also famous for its wild dogs and 6m long pythons.

Day 9:
Depart after breakfast for Selous Game Reserve through the Kisaki area. Time of arrival will be lunch time. Relax by the pool and later in the evening accompanied by your guide you will go for an evening game drive. Overnight at Lodge on full board basis.

Day 10:
Start the day with a walking safari accompanied by an armed game ranger. A Thereafter, proceed for a full day drive with packed picnic lunch provided. Overnight at Lodge, full board.

Day 11:
Morning boat safaris along Rufiji River which will be followed by the full day game drive in the reserve with full board at lodge.

SELOUS GAME RESERVE is the largest protected largest game reserve in the Africa. It is named after legendary British hunter-explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed here during the WW1. It boasts of Tanzania's largest population of elephant as well as large numbers of herds of buffalo, hippo, crocodile, wild dog, a variety of 440 species of birds, over 2000 variety of plants, hot volcanic springs, lagoons, the great Rufiji River and the diverse landscape makes Selous Game Reserve a World Heritage site. Other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra and greater kudu.

Day 12:
Morning departure for Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam for the 16.00 ferry and we will be in good time for the departure and overnight in Stone Town Hotel, bed and breakfast.

Take the option in the evening and join the Zanzibaris in the open-air seafood barbeque extravaganza along the Harbour.

Day 13
After breakfast depart for of Stone town and Jonzani Forest tours. And toutrs, overnight at Beach hotel, half board.

The Stone Town tour will take you to the House of Wonders (the first house in E. Africa to have an escalator, and electricity), Sultans Palace, Old Dispensary, The former slave market, the local vegetable and fruit market with a variety of mouth-watering tropical seasonal fruits and exotic spices such as cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper and turmeric.

Jozani Forest is the largest and only mature forest left in Zanzibar. The forest is well known for it endemic Red Columbus monkeys. Other animals include Bush babies, Hyraxes and Ader’s duikers, a variety of butterflies and birds.

Day 14&15:
Days at leisure, on the beach with optional water sports. Overnight at Hotel half board.

Day 16:
Depart for Dar es Salaam by flight in time for your flight home.

This safari is based on a miminum of two adults.
