Indigo Bay Island Resort (5 Star) is an exquisite island destination situated on Bazaruto Island, the largest island in the Mozambican archipelago of the same name. It offers visitors the quintessential Indian Ocean island holiday as well as a gateway to the unspoilt beauty of the surrounding area.

The protected Bazaruto Marine National Park is a scuba diver's paradise, with crystal-clear waters and a range of dazzling soft coral ridges and reefs to explore. Divers are able to see over 100 species of coral, thousands of tropical fish species, five kinds of dolphins, four whale species and sharks, all five marine sea turtle species and the largest population of the rare dugong on the African east coast. A host of exciting dives can be experienced here with reef fish such as snapper and surgeon, as well as potato bass, kingfish, barracuda, manta rays and reef sharks to be seen. Above the water dolphin are frequently encountered whilst humpback whales can be sighted between August and October and whale sharks between April and July. Leatherback, loggerhead and green turtles are often seen in the water, coming ashore to lay their eggs on Bazaruto's sandy beaches. A state-of-the-art dive-training pool is available for guests wanting to hone their diving skills or take up one of several dive courses on offer. The on-site PADI diving instructor co-ordinates the diving courses, from beginner courses to more advanced reef diving, and plans every diving trip taking care of all the details, from safety precautions to the final dive entry.

Indigo Bay offers world-class, understated luxury, with its elegant design making the most of its superb location on the white-sand shores of Bazaruto. State-of-the-art facilities include restaurants, bars, swimming pools, and an activity centre, which co-ordinates a wide variety of water sports, as well as diving and fishing activities as well as land based activities such as Dune Boarding.

The Resort facilities’ elegant yet natural design perfectly compliments the beauty of its tropical location overlooking Indigo Bay on Bazaruto Island. The guest areas and accommodation have been constructed of natural materials like reed, soft-fringed thatch and wood in order to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Each chalet and villa offers complete luxury, with air-conditioning, mosquito screens, sumptuous en-suite bathrooms, mini-bars, 24-hour power, satellite TV and telephone access. A choice of separate, inter-leading and shared veranda chalets and villas are available. Spectacular restaurants specializing in seafood, and characterful bars with original walls dating back to the early Portuguese traders, provide the focus of Indigo Bay's living areas.

With its tropical climate, unspoilt scenery and wealth of activities on offer, Indigo Bay is the perfect getaway for families and honeymooners.

A typical day will start with wake up call from the Resort in the way of a snack filled breakfast tray packed with light delights and freshly brewed coffee and tea, after which you will meet the resorts professional dive master, who assist you in checking your dive equipment, and will take you through the specifics of the dive location for the day. You will then head out by boat to one of the many dive sites in the area, stopping on your way to view dolphins, whales, turtles and other sea creatures. After the dive you head back to the lodge for a much deserved brunch. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the island on one of the many additional activities offered by the Resort or you may choose to lounge around on the beach enjoying the tropical sun or even take part in another dive. The choice is yours. Lunch will be served in the restaurant with its panoramic sea views, while dinner can be served anywhere you like it.

Day 6: Indigo Bay Lodge, Bazaruto Island / Johannesburg, South Africa

All dreams have to come to an end, and unfortunately, this is your final morning. After breakfast and some last minute sightseeing, you will be escorted back to Vilanculos.
