Day 1: Johannesburg to Inhambane (Flamingo Bay) On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International) you will be met by our representative, who will assist you while you book on to your 2 hour connecting flight to Inhambane on the warm tropical coast of Mozambique. Flamingo Bay is located 485km north of Maputo on Mozambiques Manta Coast. This area is fast becoming world famous for its spectacular diving, friendly Mozambique people and breathtaking scenery. The diving can compare with some of the best in the world and is still a relatively well-kept secret. From the awesome sightings of Manta Rays, Whale sharks and Humpback Whales to the sought after Harlequin Shrimp, Frogfish and Sea Horses there is something to please everyone. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life and the reefs are pristine. The species list is endless and the colours of the pristine reefs beyond description, and there is still so much to discover! The Barra area has two completely different diving environments. There are 16 different reefs out to sea that range in depth from 7 40 metres, and then there is the Barra Lagoon near the mangrove swamps, which has its own unique eco-system. Water temperatures range from 29 degrees Celsius in summer months to 22 degrees Celsius in winter while visibility ranges from 8m to 40m, depending on how much plankton there is in the water. These conditions provide with a fantastic all year round diving experience. On arrival in Inhambane, you will be met your Lodge representative, who will escort you to your Lodge, a stones throw from the edge of the Indian Ocean. Check into your Lodge, relax and enjoy. Day 2, 3, 4, 5: Flamingo Bay Lodge, Inhambane Flamingo Bay Water Lodge (4 Star) is located in the pristine tidal bay of Inhambane and is situated on stilts overhanging the crystal clear waters of the warm Indian Ocean. The unique lodge is the only one of its kind in Africa, allowing guests to appreciate the peacefulness, elegance and romance of this tropical getaway. Flamingo Bay prides itself in having an undisturbed eco-setting that is peaceful and pristine.The sunsets at Flamingo Bay are nothing less than breathtaking and the warm Indian Ocean offers safe bathing all year round with the endless wide open beaches offering hours of strolling pleasure. The dive centre is located directly on the beach metres from ocean. All diving excursions are is enjoyed from a semi rigid diving boat which carry buoy lines so to avoid dropping anchors on the reefs. The professional lodge Dive-masters will pass on the expertise and advice as they guide you along the pristine reefs. The diving on the Manta Coast of Mozambique is an experience that you will not forget. The untouched reefs, Dolphins, Manta Rays, resident Whalesharks, Seahorses and over 1000 fish species combined with unspoilt tropical setting can only be described as heaven on earth. The Lodge also offers PADI Dive Courses from beginner to advanced, as well as refresher courses for those who havent dived for a while. There are also several optional activities which can be booked through lodge including Snorkeling, Ocean Safari Trips, Horse Riding, Hiking, Catamaran Day Trips, Quad Biking and Cultural Tours. While all non-motorised activities are complimentary. A typical day will start with wake up call from the Resort in the way of a snack filled breakfast tray packed with light delights and freshly brewed coffee and tea, after which you will meet the resorts professional dive master, who assist you in checking your dive equipment, and will take you through the specifics of the dive location for the day. You will then head out by boat to one of the many dive sites in the area, stopping on your way to view dolphins, whales, turtles and other sea creatures. After the dive you head back to the lodge for a much deserved brunch. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the island on one of the many additional activities offered by the Resort or you may choose to lounge around on the beach enjoying the tropical sun or even take part in another dive. The choice is yours. Lunch will be served in the restaurant with its panoramic sea views, while dinner can be served anywhere you like it. Day 6: Flamingo Bay Lodge, Inhambane / Johannesburg, South Africa All dreams have to come to an end, and unfortunately, this is your final morning. After breakfast and some last minute sightseeing, you will be escorted back to Inhambane. You will then have time to do some final curio shopping in the local markets, where we are sure you will pick up a few fantastic bargains. You then board your onward flight to Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International).
