Day 1: Tswalu Private Game Reserve On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International) you will be met us, who will escort you to you exclusive lounge. Here you will have a chance to refresh, take in some food, and relax, before heading to you first destination, Tswalu Private Game Reserve. Tswalu Kalahari Private Game Reserve is a truly unique destination. This exclusive luxury private, malaria free game reserve is situated in the heart of the Northern Cape Province. The Reserve offers the ultimate safari experience and the surroundings are elegantly simple with our luxury swimming pool opening to the remarkable scene of animals drinking at a nearby watering hole. Wildlife is plentiful in the red sand dunes and semi-desert of this vast game sanctuary. Of the many species of mammals and reptiles that have successfully adapted to the harsh desert conditions, the most famous is the black-maned Kalahari lion. However, this area is also renowned for the magnificent oryx (gemsbok), cheetah, leopards and Black Rhino - which are more easily seen in the sparse vegetation. On arrival you will be met by your Safari Host, who will escort you to your luxurious accommodation. After light snack, you will be swept away on your first guided game drive in open safari vehicle. After-which, you will return to Camp to enjoy a fantastic African meal. Sit back, relax and enjoy the peaceful tranquillity that only the Kalahari can provide. Day 2 & 3: Tswalu Private Game Reserve The next two days will be spent exploring the Kalahari Plains of this exceptional wildlife sanctuary. You will have the services of an experienced ranger to guide you throughout your safari. You will experience this area by open air vehicle on your twice daily game drives searching for Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Black Rhino. You may also choose to venture out on foot with your ranger to track large game and to learn more about the unique Kalahari environment. There will also be an opportunity for you to take part in an equestrian safari. This will allow you to experience the Kalahari as the first explorers did, on horseback. All activities are inclusive. Tswalu Private Game Reserve offers several activities to local sites of interest including trips to Sishen Golf Club, excursions to Meerkats at Van Zylsrus, as well as guided trips to Archaeological sites in the Korannaberg Mountains which allow guests to see first hand the rock engravings of the San people (Optional). The Reserve in-house Health Spa and Massage Parlour offers a wide variety of treatments which will enhance your experience and pamper your soul! Your excursions will bring into close contact with large herds of antelope including springbok (which do not occur in the Kruger National Park), eland, blue wildebeest and oryx. We also hope to see the brown and spotted hyena, black-backed jackals, the curious meerkats, yellow mongoose, porcupines, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, Cape foxes, African wild cats and many other interesting animals. Bird life is also prolific (260 different species - including over 20 raptors) making this a superb bird watching venue. In the evening sit around an open campfire and enjoy a traditional barbeque dinner on open fire. Then observe the stars of the southern skies as you have never seen them before, including the Milky Way and spectacular Southern Cross. In this remote location far from any city lights, enjoy some of the finest stargazing available anywhere in the world! Day 4: Sun City via Johannesburg International Airport Today, we embark on our final morning Game Drive, returning to camp at around 09h00 for breakfast. The rest of the morning can be spent relaxing around the pool or in your luxury chalet, before you are transferred to the Tswalu Private Airport for your return 1-hour flight to Johannesburg International Airport. You will be met at Johannesburg International Airport and transferred to the fascinating international resort of Sun City, a 3-hour drive through the rural North West Province. Check into the luxury Sun City hotel and enjoy the many pleasures of this sophisticated resort, which offers the best of Vegas-style gaming combined with world-class sporting and family facilities. Settle in to your lush subtropical surrounding, under warm blue African skies. Days 5 & 6: Sun City Relax and enjoy the many holiday facilities of Sun City. Although famous for its gaming activities, Sun City offers a wide variety of outdoor, family and sporting activities - making it one of South Africa’s most popular holiday destinations. Its world-class entertainment centre includes slot machines and bingo, whilst the sophisticated casino offers Black Jack, Roulette and much more. Outside there are waterfalls and abundant tropical bird life. The Valley of the Waves water theme park offers both gentle rides and thrilling steep slides, as well as a man-made tropical beach with real waves! There is an excellent gym and spa and a full range of sporting activities, including water sports on the dam, tennis courts and two world-class championship golf courses at the Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City, where crocodiles are found in some water hazards! Or simply relax at one of the many swimming pools and absorb the atmosphere of this very special resort. Day 7: Johannesburg After breakfast, you will be escorted back to Johannesburg, where you will have 2 nights to experience one of the most amazing African City’s. Jozi (as it is not locally) is home to several amazing sites of historical and cultural importance. On arrival you will book into your luxury accommodation in Sandton, Johannesburg. After a mid-day siesta, you will be collected by Johannesburg City Host, who will then escort you on a half day tour of Johannesburg and Soweto. This Tour will take you through the beautiful and history of Johannesburg City -"the City of Gold" see the diverse lifestyles and historical buildings from 1886 when an Australian man named George Harrison discovered the first gold reef in Johannesburg. Experience the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg central from the "Top of Africa" - a 52 storey and highest building in Africa. We then head to the South Western Township also known as Soweto. A Soweto experience is never the same, one of Africa’s largest, most vibrant and mythical townships it will grasp you imagination and have you singing Nkosi Sikilele before you leave this wonderful cultural location. During our tour we will visit: the Mandela residence, the Hector Petersen Memorial, and a Shebeen - an African tavern where you can enjoy a drink and listen to traditional township music. After all of this, we are sure you have a great night sleep in your luxury accommodation, but not before you try out one of many fantastic Restaurants in Nelson Mandela Square. Day 8: Johannesburg Today, we venture out of Johannesburg to visit the world renowned Sterkfontein Caves and Maropeng Centre. These 2,2 billion year old caves are the site of some the greatest scientific discoveries of century in the search for the origins of humankind, situated in the World Heritage Site of Gauteng province. An anthropological treasure house of the world where the famous Mrs. Ples - the oldest and most perfect human skull in the world, 2,5 million years old - was discovered in search for origins of humankind. Sites visited are some of the richest in Africa in human evolution. The enormous underground lake inside the cave is something that will stay with you forever. On our return Journey, we will stop of at the tragic and touching Apartheid Museum. This extraordinarily powerful museum, certain to become one of Johannesburg's most important tourist attractions, has become an obligatory stop for tourists and residents alike. The Museum, with its large blown-up photographs, metal cages and numerous monitors recording continuous replays of apartheid scenes set in a double volume ceiling, concrete and red brick walls and grey concrete floor, is a 20 minute drive from Johannesburg International airport. Return Transfer to your Guesthouse. Day 9: Johannesburg On our final day, we will tour the Lesedi Cultural Village. Here you will share in the fascinating traditions and customs of four different black cultures of South Africa - Zulu (the warrior nation), Xhosa (the proud nation), Pedi (the warm hearted nation) and Basotho (the mountain dwelling nation). Let them lead you through their homesteads, enlighten you with their history, culture and legends. After a traditional dance and sing show from the different cultures, a traditional African style feast will be enjoyed in the Lesedi "Nyama Choma" restaurant from dishes around the African continent. You host will then transfer you to Johannesburg International Airport for you onward flight. (Tour Ends Approximately 17:00) Want to go further off the beaten track?
