COMMUNITY BASED CONSERVATION PROGRAMME - MT MERU.
ORGANISATION
Legally registered charitable and Non- governmental organistion based in Arusha – Tanzania, established in 2001. It is dedicated to addressing environmental issues and ensures ecological sustainable development and proper use of natural resources while promoting justifiable economic and social development of the indigenous population on the slope of Mount Meru.
The Organisation cooperates with other community development groups and projects to meet their needs of poor communities around Mount Meru.
LOCATION
The organization is base in Ngaramtoni 15km form Arusha Town. The main town is Arusha. Arusha is famous tourist town with very friendly Maasai community. Joining the Organisation mean, you will be living working and traveling along the slope of Mount Meru.
ACTIVITIES
- Education and training of community in environmental conservation, cultural tourism, appropriate village technologies.
- Beekeeping projects
- Indigenous tree planting
- Community forest conservation.
- Teaching English to school children and adults
ACCOMODATION.
Accommodation will be provided throughout the scheme using hostels, or staying with local people. Facilities are basic; there will be latrine and private washing facilities. Electricity and piped water.
FOOD.
All meals are provided, meals mainly consists of rice, bean, beef, chicken, vegetables, fruits and a good breakfast.
TRANSPORT:
When necessary public transport will be provided.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:
You must take out adequate travel and medical insurance to cover for the activities and duration of the programme.
HEALTH:
All volunteers must be vaccinated against Cholera and Yellow fever and produce international certificates of vaccination; this is particularly relevant for those traveling from neighboring African countries.
The UK Department of Health recommends vaccinations against Hepatitis A, polio and typhoid. It is essential for visitors to take a course of anti-malaria tablets commencing two weeks before travel.
VISA REQUIREMENTS:
Volunteers will be required to apply for a 90 days visa to the nearest Tanzania Embassy.

* Two month stay, free Mount Meru climb. If you prefer Kilimanjaro via Marangu route for 5 days, add $300 per person
* One month stay, free day trip to Ngorongoro Crater
