CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN’S FUTURE ORGANISATION INFORMATION: Children for children’s future is a non-governmental profit organization registered under the societies laws of Tanzania and based in Arusha Helping get the children who have been orphaned or discarded of the streets is civil society responsibility. Due to the high number of deaths of middle- aged adults form HIV/AIDS, and the extreme poverty of many of these families face, the number of children that have been forced to leave home and school for a life on streets is increasing at an alarming rate. The organization has two facilities a drop in centre in Arusha Town. A home based centre for children with no traceable family at Maji ya Chai 25 km from Arusha. You can volunteer for one or more months. Project Activities: - Giving medical care and education to the children. - Offering education and vocational education - Peer education programme. - Providing supportive care. - Counseling and referrals, offering HIV/ AIDS counseling to those in need. - Capacity Building organizing and participating in numerous training for staff, peer education in issue related to orphans, street children and HIV/AIDs WORK IN ORPHANAGE PROJECT Volunteers Roles/Duties: - As a volunteer in the orphanage project, you will teach English (3-4 hours a day) in the orphanage or school (when the kids go to schools during the day). You will help kids to stay clean by helping them in brushing teeth, shower, and personal hygiene. In free time, mostly in evening, you organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities. In the evening time, you will help kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete their next day's homework. If you do not want to teach in the school during day time, then you can offer to take care of the children who stay at the orphanage (who can not go to school). Your help is also expected in dressing of kids, food distribution, kitchen, garden, cleaning and administrative work. WORK IN HIV/AIDS PROJECT Volunteers Responsibilities/Duties: - As a Volunteer in the HIV/AIDS project, you will take care of HIV/AIDS infected kids and people and help them engaged in educational and training activities meant to increase awareness and stop the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. Volunteers also support counseling and education program of hospitals and communities. You will help to raise personal risk perception among the youth, men and women by involving them to actively participate in HIV/AIDS preventive education. Your help is also expected in outreach programs such as hospice care, recreational and educational programs, voluntary HIV counseling and testing, and educational seminars and conferences on the virus within the local community WORKING SCHEDULE General daily schedule is 8:00 to 4:00 with lunch at noon Evening team meeting and free time Monday through Thursday: Work projects Saturday and Sunday: Free time for personal or organized team pursuits. ACCOMODATION During the Volunteering period, a volunteer stays with the host family/Organization. Accommodation will be provided throughout the scheme using hostels, or staying with local people. Facilities are basic; there will be latrine and private washing facilities. Electricity and piped water. FOOD All meals are provided, meals mainly consists of rice, bean, beef, chicken, vegetables, fruits and a good breakfast. TRANSPORT When necessary public transport will be provided during the volunteering period. The cost for airport transfers on your arrival and on the last day is not included in the package price, but we can arrange at an extra cost of US $60 per vehicle per transfer. FLIGHTS Flights fare are not included in the price; you will have to arrange your own flight from your home to Kilimanjaro International Airport and return. Alternatively you can book your flight to and from Nairobi (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport). If you will choose to fly to Nairobi we will arrange shuttle bus transfer from Nairobi to Arusha at an extra cost of US$ 30 per person one way transfer. TRAVEL INSURANCE You must take out adequate travel and medical insurance to cover for the activities and duration of the program. HEALTH All volunteers must be vaccinated against Cholera and Yellow fever and produce international certificates of vaccination; this is particularly relevant for those traveling from neighboring African countries. The UK Department of Health recommends vaccinations against Hepatitis A, polio and typhoid. It is essential for visitors to take a course of anti-malaria tablets commencing two weeks before travel. VISA REQUIREMENTS Volunteers will be required to apply for a 90 days visa to the nearest Tanzania Embassy. They can also be obtained on arrival at Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airports and at the Namanga Gate on the Tanzania/Kenya boarder, Requirements may change, so you are advised to contact the appropriate Diplomatic or Consular Authority before finalizing your travel arrangements. AGE LIMIT - Above 18 Years Offers for long staying * Two month stay: free Mount Meru climb. If prefer Kilimanjaro up Marangu route 5 days, add $300 per person * One month stay: free day trip to Ngorongoro Crater PRICE: - US $ 2400 per person per month, for volunteers staying NOT more than one month. Price reduction will apply for those who will stay longer than a month.
