This trip starts from within the Ngorongoro conservation area and is best put at the end of you time visiting the crater. You head off west away from the crater through Maasai home land, traversing rolling hills before descending down to Lake Eyasi. The route then takes you back through a town called Karatu as you return to Arusha. This area is also where the bush men live and can incorporate an afternoon with these people.

I T I N E R A R Y

- Day 1
Transfer away from the vicinity of the crater. You are heading toward a town called Endulen. The cycle starts of traversing the side Mt Lemagrut before cycling along the top of the rift wall and making the long descent down to Lake Eyasi.

- Day 2
A morning cycle exploring the lake. An option for the afternoon can be cycling or time with the local people.

- Day 3
You head toward the eastern end of the lake and up the escarpment, you may need a lift here! Either way you have to return to Arusha tonight so everyone will have to get in the truck at some point! Transfer back to Arusha.

* Extensions
This trip can easily be extended for 2/3 more days and rather than returning to Arusha via Karatu you head further west to Babati. An excellent option for people who want to see more of the Tanzanian countryside including plenty of interaction with local people.
